A friend of mine is coming over from Thailand on Saturday and wants to visit most, if not, all the museums in London with famous works of art by classical artists like Raphael, Michelangelo etc.

Which museums should I take him to as he will only be in London for 2 days?

I've decided to learn a second instrument and have settled on a string instrument. I love both the violin and the cello, but can't decide which one. The cello is my bigger favorite, since I love the sound it produces. Now I've played flute for over 8 years, so I don't know if that musical knowledge will effect my learning either instrument. What are the pros and cons of the violin and cello? Preferences?

“A scribbler vile, inflamed with hellish spite,
Against the great Augustine dared to Write;
Presumptuous serpent! from what midnight den
Durst thou to crawl on earth and look at men?
Sure thou was fed on Britain’s sea-girt plains,
Or in thy breast Vesuvian sulphur reigns.”

Canadians always rely on other countries to defend them. In WWII they just sat at home while the Americans and their own mother country (Britain) fought in Europe. They should be ashamed of themselves.

About a year ago I read a how-to piece where you take 20+ photographs of a single subject over 10 or so hours of varying daylight, then overlay those images (in Photoshop?) to even-out the lighting. In the resulting image, the sky, the subject, everything is similarly lit, with few or no shadows.

I think I saw it on Wikipedia, which had a link to the how-to piece.

Can someone give me any link to point me in the right direction?

Does the latest PhotoShop version now simplify this process, to minimize manual fussing?

It seems like everyone has an idea of what the "truth" is regarding just about everything. These days stories, concepts or theories that deviate from "common knowledge" are passed off by most as conspiracy theories.

A few questions:
1. Where does "truth" or "common knowledge" come from?
2. Who decides what is "truth" or history?
3. Do you believe you are being told the whole "truth" about world events, your country's history or world history?
4. Do you even care about the "truth" or historical accuracy?

I'm remembering some jobs I had a long time ago as a ticketseller at an old, one-screen movie theatre & at an amusement park. Also, a lot of people at reception desks or information desks look like they have nothing to do much of the time. (I'm not as lazy as I sound; I'm looking for a way to pay the bills while maximizing the time I can spend working on my novel.)

I'm trying to get out of the habit of watching crap on TV and instead going to bed early with a good book to read. Not looking for anything I'll have to concentrate too hard on. This is for wind-down time !

How much of our life and things in our life are really under our control? Isn't it all really a result of the choices we make? Do we really have any control? I'm beginning to think that we only have choices and no control. Life is all about making appropriate choices...
