*****
Softness

Whispered words melt,
passing by, the thoughts
inside tumble
as you smile

Strands of hair part
as ears strains
to listen

Softly passing by,
they fall to your toes,
scattered, whispered words.

*****
Warrior’s lament

I hear tomtom calling
Dark forest echoes
I feel drums beating through tall grass

On crest a signal fire
Warns great danger
Ride away to spirits pointing

I see a totem gesture
Signs pathways ending
I hear Grandfathers
From herds up in the sky

What are you looking for
little gray squirrel
How many nuts
can there be
in Chicago

Like...Can we live following the principles in Emerson's and/or Thoreau's writing? Such as Emerson says that imitation is suicide. That can be applied to everyday life. Can you explain any others?

Seriously folks.. please think about it before you give a knee jerk response that slavery and genocide is bad.

What is intelligent life? Would something like an ape count as intelligent life if we found it on a different planet? If so would it be acceptable for us to treat these newly discovered life forms as property as we do with animals here on earth?

If you discovered a planet of intelligent cows on a different planet would it be wrong to eat them?

I've heard exercise is a great way to make you feel happy, when you're feeling blue. Would dancing count?

When I say "God", I mean - all-that-is/everything/love which holds all together/created and creator/unity/divine.
A rather large desciption for the word "God"

What do you mean, please describe?

I need assistance for a class I am teaching and Google seems to have
let me down. (more than likely I am searching under the wrong words). I
am teaching about portraiture and the asymmetry of the face; I want to
explain the open and closed sides of the face (also known as recessive
and dominant). Does anyone know of a web site that would have
information about this coupled with portraits with the two left sides
mirrored and the two right sides mirrored? I am aware of lighting and
posing techniques to correct this, I am mainly looking for samples.

Thanks!

This is my first attempt at doing a mixed black and white / colour photo. I felt that the bird was so beautiful that it deserved to stand out from the rest of the picture hence the use of this technique. Any comments welcome. Thank you.

I have a monthly "job" that I shoot for our local art gallery. All I have to do is document the scene with a few general shots. I also choose a few pieces to be featured in the newspaper for publicity.

The problem is... There are fluorescent tubes running the length of the room. There are halogen floodlights aimed at most pieces. For an overall view, I still need to use flash to light the room.

What would you do for this setting? How would you set the whtie balance?

Generally, if you use flash, it overpowers anything else and it's okay, but in this setting, I don't know how to take a custom white balance. You'd have to take the flash into account when you set it and I don't know how to do that.

I've placed a few quick shots on Flickr as examples of where I am ending up.

Holidays' Journey*

Rattle tagging twigs, branches
Tumbling twisted trunks
Loose from
Crispy flippin leaves...
Down, down
Strewn on dewed ground.

Crunch, step...
Step, crunch.
Pathing past shallow,
Hollow stumps
Deep into meadow morning
Swarms,
Swimming sunlight, cold light
Crinkling
Swift, tinseled silvers,
Silencing slices of
Fall...calling...calling.

Beckoning yellow, mellowing
Brown towns of Winter...
Winning, creeping, sleeping
Spring,
Crouching, slouching on
Fern torched porches.

We wait. Frosted windows
Funnel firelight upon
Holidays...glazed icing days...
Delights of hearth, friends, home.

Media reports of the day listed the Communist PLA woes of the early 1990's due to Communism's historically proven failed economics and a nearly bankrupt central government. Boots for every other soldier, guns for half their men with only 5 BULLETS PER GUN, no real navy and precious little effective air forces. Command was antiquated as were communications, nuclear capacity and field armor with moral tanked due to nonpayment of salaries throughout the conscripted service of the PLA. The student uprising of 1989 by unarmed citizens seeking liberty nearly defeated the PLA but was brutally repelled with an excess of 10000 murdered students in the streets of China's capital. Point is the people nearly won. 1994 saw the realization of the dream of capitalizing from tyranny while undermining freedom and avoiding living wages by a small group of Arkansas traitors when Clinton, acting as a WMT lawyer while President of USA, extended "favored nation" trading status to the enemy of liberty.
