This is my first attempt at doing a mixed black and white / colour photo. I felt that the bird was so beautiful that it deserved to stand out from the rest of the picture hence the use of this technique. Any comments welcome. Thank you.

It's a good example of this technique being properly used, nice job with the claws.

You picked an excellent subject for this type of treatment and the result is first rate.

This is only an opinion or preference but I would like to see the background a little bit more subdued by reducing the contrast or making it a little bit darker. Strictly a preference. It would also depend on whether or not I was going to print it and put a matt around it. (It looked great with a Congo Green matt held up to it on the monitor).

I love it!

i have to be honest I am not a fan of this technique mostly because it is so overdone, but its a good building block for other things that can be done in photoshop. one thing i would suggest though, because the actual edges of the bird are soft, I would not have so sharp of an edge on yellow, if you are using a selecting tool, then I would feather the selection by at least 5 points, or if you are brushing it in, use a soft feathered brush tip, because those Hard edges on an object that is supposed to be soft kinda hurt the eye

the image itself is great, very strong composition, the depth of field holds my attention on the bird (i think much better than the color does). its a great image overall

For me that's in fact a toss-up between the 1st and the final. i like the assessment of the attractive, vibrant, colourful foreground and the ominous sky with lightning in the history. i'm additionally a sucker for complementary colorations, so the yellow timber against the pink sky on my own could make me chosen this photograph. The monochrome is a lot extra ominous, and is fabulous in a thoroughly diverse way. i like them the two, yet i think of that I desire the 1st photograph. It nevertheless has the ominous ingredient, yet additionally has the stable juxtaposition with the foreground in spite of the undeniable fact that, in case you ever have choose of an exceptionally ominous, creepy photograph the monochrome could desire to be your decision :p I only desire the 1st photograph for you on an standard basis attractive photograph desires. The composition is innovations-blowing, by using the way!

Good choice of subject and it's a fresh take on an old technique. It could be sharper though...

This is really good. Soften the edges very slightly and it will be perfect.
