Seriously folks.. please think about it before you give a knee jerk response that slavery and genocide is bad.

What is intelligent life? Would something like an ape count as intelligent life if we found it on a different planet? If so would it be acceptable for us to treat these newly discovered life forms as property as we do with animals here on earth?

If you discovered a planet of intelligent cows on a different planet would it be wrong to eat them?

Hello:

Well considering how many times humans have thought that they understood what was going on or that they understood a new and strange situation and were wrong (most of the time) I think that it would be capricious of us to tamper with anything that resembled a life form in space. If necessary to study something it should be done in the most respectful way possible and with regard to excess or destruction or presumed permanent disablement of said creature. Yes this includes spare cows.

On the same hand we'll probably do what we usually do, rape it and then ride it for all its worth.

I hope this helps

I'm guessing that if some sort of intelligent life forms ( im talking about aliens yes ) would discover us ( i don't know if they didn't already ... if it is a they ) ... and start enslaving us ... we would respond in kind and also consider it wrong .... I mean Why are these creatures atacking us , we haven't done anything wrong. So ... it would be wrong only for the enslaved race ... for the race that dominates i don't know i guess it's up to their own feelings, wich can be met all day long at humans ... and you know why ? because we are Weak ... and unprepared, that doesn't mean that we should be totally cruel and emotionless. Well i hope you get my point ... Have a nice day!

we are human beings and we were not made to just look and not investigate our surroundings. If we found aliens ofcourse we would have to take some into bondage and examine them! how do you think we became these superior beings, how do you think we have so much intelligence? The only reason we know so much about other living species anotomies are from killing them. The point is that darwinism will take place and we NEED to be superior to these aliens and thus, we will enslave them or do whatever is necessary to have control over them. So i dont it would be "wrong", its just what we have to do.

Love the question btw.

If the discoverers of these sentient cows had to ask the question then they already have a problem.

How would we know that those cows were not own by cosmic ranchers that would regard us as cattle?

wrong for the aliens

might give us humans the wrong kinda reputation with the others

probably more potential for mutual benefit if cooperative efforts were made to exchange info rather then acquisition it

Thats impossible.
they died out millions and billions of years ago in different distances, different times
You and me and all people are just the parazites of their radiating intellect to gain on.
Universal intellect. Happens, and passing by, just as the human civilisation shall -and
another one parsecs away shall parazite on ours.
