Canadians always rely on other countries to defend them. In WWII they just sat at home while the Americans and their own mother country (Britain) fought in Europe. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Errr... they were.

They came ashore on Juno beach during the D-Day landings.

There were also a number of Canadian fighter pilots during the Battle of Britain (my grandfather served with a few) as well as bomber crew.
Canada entered WWII on September 10th 1939 (2 years before the US) and they defended shipping lanes for convoys, took part in the invasion of Italy and fought in the pacific.
For such a small population of 12 million, 1.1 million men signed up to help Britain fight the Nazi's and Japan; of that number 65,000 gave their lives.

I, for one, am eternally grateful that Canada and many other Commonwealth countries decided to stand up and be counted alongside Britain. I am also extremely embarrassed on your behalf that you didn't know this.

To any Canadians out there, most of us do know of the sacrifices you made.

You have a very poor knowledge of history.
The Canadians were in from the beginning in 1939 and fought bravely throughout the war.
The formed the force for the Dieppe raid in 1942 and had their own invasion beach for D-Day in 1944.
I suggest you do some research.
In may interest you to know that the USA did not participate until December 1941, over two years behind the Canadians.

10 Sept 1939 Canada declared war on Nazi Germany, as part of the British Empire and part of the common wealth Canada was one the fighting front from the beginning of the war. In fact during Dunkirk the Canadians had the only combat ready division ready in Britain.

The battlefield grave yards of Europe bear witness to this testament of bravery and courage of the Canadian people and may their service and sacrifice never be forgotten.

And may you learn to do a bit more research before you insult and liable the honor and memory of such a noble sacrifice.

This is nonsense. The Canadians were fighting in WWII long before the Americans. At first individuals came and then the Canadian Govt became involved. Where did you read this?

This is rubbish. The Canadians stormed the beaches of Normandy, landed in Italy, patrolled the shipping routes in the Atlantic and faught in the Pacific. The Canadians always protect themselves and their allies when needed.

A lot of Canadians were in the European theater. They just simply weren't as visible as Americans or Brits. Australians were heavily involved in the Pacific theater.

Considered a british dominion at the time of the war Canada was part of it. Americans who wished to fight in the war before the Americvan entry went either to Canada to fight in the Army or England to fly in the RAF.
