Any free record databases would be helpful it just seems like the only way to find out this info is to pay someone to get it....

I need to read some books with strong women as the character the story focuses on. They need to be competent and smart, and not emotionally weak. Romance is fine, as long as the girl really does kick @ss, which will probably only be found in more modern works. If it is romance, it needs action in there as well (like Tara Janzen's "Crazy" series). For any other genre, action is also a must. Fantasy, even sci-fi if it's really outstanding, and anything in between. If the lady is edgy, even better. Even if the character is unrealistic, this is the kind of thing I'm looking to read right now. Any suggestions?
Thanks! :)

Sentinel
Written by Semper Fi Reborn 10/6/07

A servant of God,
Is born out of repentance.
By the Blood of the Lamb,
Grace and humble submittance.
Divine of the Spirit,
From corruptable flesh.
Reborn of the soul,
Now they mesh.

The Lord God Almighty,
Spoke all things into life.
When Cain slew Abel,
Did not His blood cry?
Unto the Lord,
Who does see from On High.
From His Holy Mountain,
He knows you and I.
For He in wisdom and glory,
Has opened the cells.
Released all His Righteous,
Found captive in hell.
Keep watch for the day,
That He rings your death bell.
Until then,
Be as if you were,
A Sentinel.
Be as if you were a Sentinel.

Good morning my love
I missed you through the night
But the dreams I had of us
Made things seem just right

Last night before i slept
I had a tear in my eye
This morning when i awoke
I had a tear on my cheek

Good morning my love,
I hope you are alright
You seem so far away
But i know we woke with the same morning light

The tears in my eyes
where not from depression
but from the fear of comitment
The tears on my cheeks
where not from sorrow or loss
But from the joy of contentment

Can you see now, my darling,
You are my love,
You are my joy,
you are the inspiration for each future breath i take,
you are the sunshine that wakes me in the morning

Can you tell, my darling, my love, my joy
Im despretly in love with you

please tell me what you think of this peom and if i need to change stuff in it

Suppose for a moment that we found a way to time travel.

I have a theory on how it would work. The mechanics. I would like everyone here to discuss the idea that time and space are relative but not the same.

Most modern ideas about time travel insinuate that to travel back in TIME is to travel back and see different things happen in that SPACE.

To travel back to 1931, you would suddenly be in the midst of World War II.

But I have a theory of time and space being related but not so closely. More like 2 parts to a machine, the physical part (space) and the incorporeal, more theoretical part (time).

The way I see it, to travel back in time does not mean that objects in that space will reverse age or that suddenly things from the past will show up in that space. I feel that time is more of a reference point in the universe that has no affect on what is in that space.

I compare it to a pointer in programming. Doesn't matter where the pointer is, just matters what it's pointing to.

there's nothing the sky is less sure of than it's color
i've become familiar with a mask of blue
but have you ever looked beneath it
to see the lightning
have you ever listened closely
to hear the thunder
that's roaring out for you

there's nothing the earth is less sure of than it's strength
yet i trust it when i can't trust myself
but if you fell in a hole
could you make it out on your own
or would you need me there to help you

there's nothing i'm less sure of than myself
can i be there for you when i'm not here for myself
don't you know i've seen through your sky
passed your mask of blue
we're in the same gray storm
and i'll be here for you

2007-10-06 03:31:08 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous in Books & Authors

Here are the types of authors I read:

Nelson Demille (probably my favorite)
Wilbur Smith (One of my favorites, but a bit too lengthy)
Dan Brown (excellent)
Michael Connelly (Just got into this, I like it)
Michael Crichton (latest efforts have not been great)
Dennis Lehane (very good)
Clive Cussler (pure fun)
Dean Koontz - Although I'm not a fan of horror, I've also read Stephen King, that's not my bag!
James Patterson --- Kind of too lightweight
Douglas Preston And Lincoln Child-- -( I love this stuff)
Harlan Coben (it's good, I live in NJ, and like that he writes that locale in)

That's just a general indication of the stuff I read, I am always open to new authors, If you are familiar with the above and have any new author recommendations, I would appreciate your opinions.
