A few weeks ago, my older sister was telling me about Severus Snape. She said that his name really fits him. I didn't know what Severus means, and she told me, but now I forget. What does it mean, and do you agree with her on snape?

When I read forums and messages I interpret them to be negative. When you read things, you usually can't tell the tone of the message. But for some reason, I always read it to be the negative. When I read video comments on YouTube or even answers to questions here on Y!Answers, unless they are worded precisely to sound positive, I take them to be negative.

This also goes for correction and criticism. For example, when I write a paper for a class, the professor grades it and hands it back. And when I read his/her comments, I always immediately take it to be an attack of some sort. They may disagree with my reasoning on some subject, and I feel anger towards them for critiquing my work. The thing is, though, I am rarely angry about things and I always try to keep an open mind. But my natural reaction to a criticism is always the negative.

I was just wondering if others are similar or maybe have some comments on the subject. I appreciate it!

I am a pretty good artist, but I find it hard to come up with things to paint or draw. Any artist photo references online that I can use? Because, I do not have a camera, and I don't have the money to buy one just yet.

I do not mean to offend any one. Sadly, there seems to be an increase of male sexual predators. More horrific, are the reports of men raping children. As a mother, it really frightens me and I am afraid that I will see every man as a threat. I am very interested to hear from the men, and what are their thoughts on male sexual predators. Has it made you feel misjudged? Do you feel a need to prove that not all men are capable of doing such horrible things? Do you feel that the male indentity has been hijacked by sexual predators?

I mean, seriously, it seems like a lot more people would want to believe that we are special and not merely animals. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if when you read a science book or go to a museum, it said "we might have been monkeys" instead of "we were monkeys."

In a non-fiction book of this nature, the author would examine how states that use this form of punishment use it unjustly, putting innocent civilians to death while refusing to accept whatever evidence of their innocence that may come up, even using the "race card" to justify their means, and prosectuors who deny ever putting an innocent man to death.

In a fiction book, you would have a wife and mother as your protagonist, whose husband is charged for killing a teenage girl. She stands by her man despite evidence of his guilt piling up in court, he is eventually found guilty and sentence to die in the electric chair. Afterwards, she becomes depressed and angry, and takesher feelings out on the murder victim's family, saying she got what she deserved when her husband killed her, even sabatoging a memorial get-together for friends and family on the anniversary of the girl's death. The widowed woman eventaully uses the electric chair to attempt suicide.

As Banned Books Week draws to a close, I've been visiting the American Library Association's website, and I noticed that two of this year's most challenged books are "And Tango Makes Three" by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnell, and "The Earth, My Butt, and Other Round Things" by Carolyn Mackler, citing anti-family as one of the reasons.

http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/challengedbanned/challengedbanned.htm#mfcb

Scroll down to the background information, and I read there have been 202 anti-family challenges between 1990 and 2000 and 211 anti-family challenges between 2000 and now. I'm a bit confused about this, and have found nothing when I put this in a search on Yahoo! Dictionary and Wikipedia.

So, how is anti-family defined in this case?
