You can't! Genuine luck is, BY DEFINITION, not something you can influence! If you could, it'd be called 'skill'!
There is an abstract phenomenon that many people think of as luck but which is in fact merely a subjective POINT OF VIEW e.g. you forgot your unbrella but it didn't rain, which you put down to 'good luck', even though somewhere else, another person forgot to water his vegetables before he went to work and would have thought it was lucky if it *had* rained! Now, if *you* think this way, then you *can* improve your 'luck' by developing a more positive attitude and increasing the number of ways of interpreting random events in a manner that suits you e.g. you missed the bus (which you might have interpreted as bad luck) so you think hard for ways in which missing the bus could be viewed as *good* luck; you might make an extra effort to take note of who is on the next bus so that if a friend is on it, you don't fail to notice them. Then you could tell yourself that if you hadn't missed the earlier bus, you wouldn't have bumped into your friend - hey presto - you've turned missing the bus into a 'lucky' event!
Another phenomenon that is often viewed as a matter of luck is wisdom/unwisdom e.g. two men (A & B) cross a road; 'A' doesn't take care and steps in front of a fast moving vehicle but 'B', being careful, stopped walking to let the vehicle pass. A gets knocked down and thinks B was 'lucky' when in fact B was merely wise enough to take more care. Again, if this fits your thinking, make extra effort to apply your knowledge in the best possible way so that you avoid making costly mistakes and can put it all down to being 'lucky'.
Yet another way is to research things that are thought to be considered lucky then do them and interpret everything positive that happens afterwards as being because of the superstition you followed e.g. you've heard that finding a four-leafed clover is lucky so you go out and hunt for one until you find one. Then, when something happens afterwards, e.g. you find some money - tell yourself it was *because* of your lucky four-leafed clover.
In short, real luck, good or bad, is actually rare, but perfectly commonplace events can be interpreted positively or negatively to give an *artificial perception* of luck, good or bad.

Luck is something we like to believe in because it makes us feel that there is more out there than just us. In reality luck does not exist. There is no mystical force or deity controlling when we are having good events or bad events. Is all about chance and circumstances and the decisions we make. When things are going our way we call it good luck. but when they aren't is bad luck. We also associate certain events as giving us extra luck or taking away luck from us. For example they say never to have a friend use your car to have sex because they will "salt" the car. By salt they mean sour the car. After that the car will start having problems or get into accidents and what not. However, a simple experiment can prove that the car having bad luck because of sex is just coinsidence. What the experiment is is to have sex in all of your friends cars. Don't tell them of your act. Then observe how many of them get car problem. Of course you will observe that at least one of your friends will have car problems of some sort because cars are machines and as machines they break down and have accidents. So, in order to make a good observation you must take an equal number of friends who you do not have sex in their car. That is they are the control. You will notice that the people with cars that you did not have sex with have equal opportunity of having car problems than the people you did have sex in their car.
Still it is fun to speak in terms of luck. You lucked out playing roullette, or playing a video game or you where the only one not to get laid off at work. Luck is in our everyday speech so its hard to get rid of but it is technically incorrect. It is culturally correct however.
So, what to do then. Well, if you find yourself in a situation that everything seems to be turning sour or unlucky then it is time to stop for a second. Stop all activity inmediately because what is happening is that you yourself maybe causing your own problems. For example you are so worried that you have been having so much bad luck that you do not focus on the task at hand. An example is when driving. You get so distracted that you do not see that car who forgot to stop at the stop sign. SO, take a break. Let things cool down. Once you rest a bit then its time to analise the current situation you are in. For example, if you just got fire and your girlfriend or boyfriend left you then start thinking. Did you get laid off because of your behaviour at work. Maybe it was or maybe it wasn't. It could be that the companny was not doing so well and thay decided to get rid of a few extra people according to whatever criteria they used. In a situation like that you have no control over so I guess you could say is bad luck but to management is just good accounting practices. If the girlfriend left then it could had been for many reasons. Maybe you guys where not compatible, maybe you did not treat her right or maybe she is a gold digger and as soon as she found out you no longer got a job she bailed out. Who knows. Well, you do. However, none of the reasons have to do with luck. Just inconvinience timing. So, just sit down and evaluate your life as it currently stand. What things are you doing to make things worst and what things are you doing to make things better. Also, note down the things that you have no control over like being laid off. The whole point is to try to get to some sort of solution. Notice that there are always answers but there is no guarantee that the answers are something we will like.
