When you have nothing, you care about nothing. Therefore it is easier to love.
The ones who hate are rooted in possessions, material and otherwise. Watching over these like a hawk, they will fight to the death if there are attempts to steal and remove them.
Life is complex, and cannot be simply be only love and hate.
Many things are worth fighting for, and the existence of love and peace only exist because of the sacrifices of those before us.
Lest we forget. Freedom is not free, Liberty has a price. Peace too.

Simple:
#1. People can not mind their own business.
#2. People want what others have.
#3. People often are promoted just because of their relationship to the boss, not merit-based.
#4. People always ASSUME things and don't bother to find out what's what.
#5. People enjoy being cruel to others.
#6. People enjoy lording it over the misfortunate.
#7. People enjoy being Liberals.
Of course, there are many more reasons, but that is a few.

This is not neccesarily true.
Hate and violence just get more publicity.
You never hear about "this person gave this person $1000" but will usually hear of some theif stealing $1000. Love prevails, because Hate can be beaten with love.

Lesser love is also hatred in comparison to more love. We can pretend to look good, but even with in our families we have less or more love to our kins and at different times even the same person is loved differently with varying degrees of intensity.
Love to God (Krishn to me), can only be of a degree which can remain in tact, provided we understand His relationship with us.
I disregard the hatred part showered on me by people. I say that to be less love for me and not hatred.

People don't care about inner peace anymore. Which is clearly reflected in the state of our world.

Hate prevails because people are taught, while children, to accept criticism. "Train up a child in the way he should go and he will not depart from it..." (or at least it becomes very difficult to depart from it.)
Criticised as children, and not shown the beauty within themselves, people have little acquaintanceship with self-love or faith which gives the power to hope... Anger and defensiveness naturally ensue, and those people are filled with inner pain.
People who can love individuals in spite of negative actions of those individuals have the power to change the world.
Love and compassion flows naturally from those who have been loved.
Too often, people are not given love and acceptance because they are not deemed worthy of it, which just perpetuates the viscious cycle of anger, hatred and defensive attacks. "Judge not..." "Love is of God."
I think this is why Jesus taught us to "turn the other cheek" and to "go the second mile" and to "do good to them who despitefully use you and persecute you."
"We love Him, because he loved us first."
If we love (without fear or reservation) those who are troubled with hatred, they may begin to see their inate divinity. This insight will naturally lead them to seek after more inner goodness.
That said, we do need to "take heed to ourselves"... and to "pray always" so that we will have the power to give this pure and godly love. We need to nurture ourselves spiritually, through communing with God.
We don't need to dwell upon how other people "should" act... We can dwell upon how they feel or think, and how their inner thoughts and feelings have led them to behave as they do. When we understand that, we can begin to remedy the breakages through offering words of solace and hope that heal their wounded hearts, such as the hope of salvation through the love of Jesus Christ, and the beautiful Path (of guidelines for life) that leads to godliness.
Taking the gentle path with those who are not gentle means we can say one word here, and two words there, surprising them that we see the good within them. Gradually, they will become more receptive to greater truth and light... and their hearts will eventually regain the LOVE that is the birthright of every human child. (See John 1:9, 12 - http://scriptures.lds.org/en/john/1/9,12#9 )
Who is it who can do this great work of healing humanity?
D&C 4: 5 - http://scriptures.lds.org/en/dc/4/5#5
5 And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.
Many of those filled with hatred at this time, are choice sons and daughters of God, whose potential is immeasurable. The only thing needed for hate to prevail is for "good people" to sit back and do nothing.
The place where I am currently trying to strengthen this attitude within myself is in my own home, especially towards my husband and children. It's so easy to slip back into the ways of my parents (criticism). I need to pray a lot to help myself stay focused on changing into a being of greater light and love.
Through Jesus Christ we have the power to forgive, and to hope that the "sinners" that we love will be blessed, in spite of their past actions.
Hope and Love.
Namaste digi. :-)
P.S. Gotta go now, and love those kids of mine.
