the poems are beautifully written, and as much as i want to, i cant seem to write new poems for my girlfriend due to lack of time and writers block. so i was reading the old ones from my ex, and they describe how i feel about my current girlfriend, and they are very beautiful. so is should i just go ahead and give them to her? let me know your thoughts :)

Maybe you wrote them for her to begin with and you just gave them to the wrong girl the first time. Follow your heart!

Would you give your present girlfriend a gift you had intended for someone else? Think about it! Although she may never know your words were not originally meant for her, your own conscience might start bothering you. Things like this can come back to haunt you. Here's what happened to me. I once gave my aunt a scarf that someone gave me, and I didn't like it. Turned out that it was the same scarf she had given to the person who gave it to me. Ya gotta be original, so play it safe. Write new poems. Surely there's something about your present girlfriend's character or personality or the way she inspires you, that is totally different from that of your ex. Good luck...

As a girl, I'd probably say no. Because it WAS written for another woman. But I guess, that she doesn't have to know they were written for an ex?

I say, that you shouldn't. But reuse the material of your feelings into a new poem for her. But at least it's not the EXACT same.

Change it a bit around so it's not the same poem going out for another girl.

You should understand that you feel like you have writers block due to the fact that your brain doen not know how to put your feelings for this new girl into words yet. Your heart has felt what it needs to feel to know that you like her, (obviosly this relationship is still new) so I think it would be a mistake to recycle letters. She will hold you to every word (if you guys make it) and you never know, you may feel different than you did about your ex in the long run. So just wait till your brain catches up, and it will, it will tell you exactly what to write. hope this helps. S

Wait, poems from you to your ex, or from your ex to you? It would be kind of, not really, but kind of ok to send ones you wrote to your current g/f even though they were written to a different person, but it certainly would NOT be ok to send poems written to YOU as poems you wrote. That would be exceedingly tacky, while sending re-used poems of your own would only be somewhat tacky.

No, Big Mistake. Never give a current girlfriend something from your ex. Your writer's block will lift as soon as your current girlfriend inspires you, wait until then and write her something original!

o god. no. that sucks. i'd be pretty darn annoyed at the thought of left over words. don't do it. buy her a cards, or find poetry on the net from someone else, but don't give her some old leftover, beautiful or not.
keep them for someday, read them for your own pleasure and look back with fond memories for time spent.
