I mean, seriously, it seems like a lot more people would want to believe that we are special and not merely animals. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if when you read a science book or go to a museum, it said "we might have been monkeys" instead of "we were monkeys."

Certain people believe in evolution, so it's normal for people to think we did come from monkeys. However, I agree that we shouldn't say that "we did, for sure, come from monkeys" because that might not be true. When you look at who says that we did come from monkeys (as a definite answer), they're usually scientists or evoultionists. We shouldn't publish books that say "yes, we did come from monkeys." We need books to say that "we may have come from monkeys, but it's still in question".

We are not like monkeys. We just have the least chromosomes that are different. Each animal species have a different set of chromosomes. Scientists compare animal chromosomes and look for similarities in the code.

We are not special either. We are all animals living earth and affecting our enviroment. We are just smarter than other animals which is why humans dominate the earth. From a Christian stand point we are special (which is bs). As far as i can see, animals are more blessed than we are. Humans are greedy, violent and treacherous. Do animals fight wars for personal gain?

It is a common misconception to say that humans are LIKE or WERE monkeys.

We eat, we sleep, we make love, we go to the bathroom, we have an internal body heat regulation system, we've got two eyes, two hands, two feet, one brain...

We're not that different from monkeys. (Actually, the gorilla is our closest living relative - which doesn't have a tail either and spends most of its life on the ground. Certain gorillas have been trained to recognize as many as 2 000 human words.)
Did God lack imagination?

Also, don't expect a museum presenting science as "it might be... or might happen". Museums present the science of the day as far as best evidence teaches us. I don't expect to go into a Church and have the pastor say: God (If there is a God...) every time he mentions the word God.

I used to hear the analogy a long time ago but I hardly hear that anymore. They may have come from our elderly population exposed to the Charles Darwins Theory of Evolution book.
Now, that book is old and passe, and this demography has ceased to engage us in similar conversations anymore.

Nobody cares if we are compared to monkeys, and you will hear "So??" , see a shrug, or responses such as "Same phylum, different brain size." This is the result of education, biology in the lower grades, and comparative zoology in high school or college.

We definitely share similarities with monkeys although we fit closer to orangutans, gorillas, and chimpanzees presently. We are considered apes and not monkeys. But humans and monkeys are still both primates and like I said are similar.

I consider us animals. Primitive ones too in a lot of respects, but also very advanced, developed animals in other areas.

Evolutionists want to believe we evolved from something. Monkeys/Apes are the closest comparison. Though I believe we evolved, I don't believe we evolved from monkeys because there are still monkeys. Many species have evolved to suit their surrondings, mating needs and survival. But the original species in it's original form rarely exists. There may be several evolved genis of the original but the original is no longer around. So if we are evolved monkeys, why are there still monkeys in an unevolved state?

The evidence that our species evolved from lower primates ("monkeys" if you will) is OVERWHELMING!

People who insist on Creationism are simply touting a primitive, unsubstantiated BELIEF.

It is incredible the number of educated people (including a small percentage of scientists) who knowingly set aside the facts in order to embrace their religion. Indeed, many are troubled by that, and it causes them great distress when questioned. I guess old beliefs are hard to let go.

Special.

Like God did not love monkeys to make them so beautiful.

I personally would rather admit to being related to monkeys than a lot of people that I have met.

Love and blessings Don

if evolution from monkey to man did take place,
why has it not taken place a second time?
we may have found "evidence", but what if we found another creature (extinct of course) that was more similar to human than monkey?

Evolution says no such thing.
Perhaps you might try actually -learning- something about the subject before flaunting your ignorance.
