I am not trying to offend anyone with this question. I agree that slavery is morally wrong. However, I have to admit that been a noble woman in Rome having several maids waiting on me sounds very appealing. If I had grown up in that era, I would probably have accepted and even enjoyed owning slaves. I would love to have someone feed me graped, fix my hair and massage my tired feet. How about you?

Did you know that Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea actually takes place tonight, September 12 and tomorrow, September 13? Is anyone but me reading it today to celebrate that? Pax-C

Does anyone feel like they are falling in love or is in love with a fictional character? I think I'm in love with a fictional character, I read a lot of books. I love the John Keller trio collection by Lawrence Block:
-Hit Man
-Hit List
-Hit Parade
John Keller is a hit man (of course) and I find it very arousing what he does. But since I was younger, I always loved fictional men like John Keller when I read books. I never met a real character like John Keller...yet. You can judge me, I need open and honest answers.

My main question is, does anyone think it's wrong to be in love with a fictional character?

I am looking for a book from the 1980s-- it was horror fiction. The only things that I can remember is a man who did tarot readings who did one for someone and it came up that the person was going to die. After the person left, he couldn't believe what the cards said (because he always manipulated them into what he wanted to say for the client). He started did a reading for himself and it was death.

The other part was about this young woman who was pretty loosey-goosey for the time and she had a different guy every night..... and she picked up this guy who ended up to be the killer-but he was like a paranormal killer because they were having sex and the author describes her as having really good sex and an incredible orgasm that didn't stop. The woman couldn't feel her legs it was so strong and eventually (too late for her) she figured out that the killer was eating her (but in the sense of making her dissappear) and it was like one long delicious orgasm to her. Help is appreciated.

If ethics are required for peace and harmony then how do we address the different ethical and moral perspectives of the world.

For example, India and Pakistan emerged as two countries party because under the Muslim faith, the faithful were instructed to destroy Hindu places of worship. They were being moral by their code, but clearly this did not lead to peace.

As an other example, we have the many Christian religions that are at odds with the Jewish faith.

Or, we have largely theistic nations that are at odds with largely atheistic nations.

just deciding on a simple life and you felt so much more relieved and happier as a person?
OR did you eventually feel bored and go back to your list of goals, accomplish them gradually, overcoming ANY obstacles in your path even tho you had to pay a price? was it worth it?

Why do We Live? Why??? Why Do We Come to Life on Earth? I Mean... Why do we Live...Then Die? Why Not Just Kill Your Self Now? But Then, You want to Enjoy your life to. What I Never got was Why do We Live Then Die? I Always Wanted to Live For Ever. But i guess that wont happen. Life Is Not a Chosen Option... its a Given Option... But It Is a Option To END it or NOT. So You Chose END It! or KEEP ON GOING!

Here is my poem:

A roaring river cuts through the land,
The river thins down at the bend,
the bend where I would play as a child,
And where now I stop to rest awhile
Beside the river is an old willow tree,
It’s very presence comforts me,
For this is the same willow that cried amity,
On the day that we all lost hope.
This willow knows of great, great sorrow,
Of war that would come perhaps tomorrow,
Of stories untold and heroes unsung,
Knows much does this willow by water that runs.
Amity, amity, it sang in dark times,
Friendship, it called to a world torn with strife,
Peace, it asked of two nations at war,
Amity it called, to the heroes of lore.
The war had torn us all apart,
Had emptied our minds, clouded our hearts,
Wartime strategies were all that we knew,
Till the willow cried amity and hope of light grew.
And now as I sit in the willows embrace,
I know vengeance is gone, I am safe, I am safe.

Thank you!
