CramerFan...I am hoping to reduce some of the discrimination against Eastern philosophies. Western philosophy and approaches are just one part of a larger picture. But I do get your point.

I think morality comes from herd instinct. We are all forced to live together and interact with people. I think it just makes living easier and more pleasant if we are moral. "immoral" actions tend to create unpleasant reactions so naturally we come up with a system to avoid it.

Everyone has morals. Not everyone agrees on what is moral. Morals help people within cultures live according to acceptable standards.
Ethics on the other hand ensures fairness and harmony, that is if you take ethics asthe definition is intended.
If people were more ethical than moral, that is to say they held their moral standards (did not force their morals) but lived by true ethical standards there would be way less confusion, disparate treatment, racism, anxiety, harshness... the world would be a better place.

This is known as the normative question. This is a personal philosophical question which has no absolute right answer but has many wrong answers. Some of the answers that are generally accepted include: My Conscience, Threat of Punishment, and Self-interest/ happiness. but even these answers have counterarguments such as the nihilist belief that there is no such thing as a conscience. Moral relativism is another counterargument. I could go on and on for several pages but do not want to get too technical and complicated. I hope this answers your question. You should consider why you behave morally.

Several reasons. 1st to not trash our own cages, eventually all will face the consequences of their actions. 2nd to not harm others, if for no other reason than you may need their help one day. In the end we can come to have deeper understandings of the issues, but at the base level, it really is self preservation.

It is in our soul to be moral, not to cheat our neighbor! With that comes ethics. As the saying goes do on to others, hopefully they have ethics.
