If ethics are required for peace and harmony then how do we address the different ethical and moral perspectives of the world.

For example, India and Pakistan emerged as two countries party because under the Muslim faith, the faithful were instructed to destroy Hindu places of worship. They were being moral by their code, but clearly this did not lead to peace.

As an other example, we have the many Christian religions that are at odds with the Jewish faith.

Or, we have largely theistic nations that are at odds with largely atheistic nations.

Yes but...
many people equate ethics with morals or religion etc. but ethics are not based on feelings. People do not "feel" the same. Laws are derived from and incorporate ethics but they are not always ethical.Society's standards can also deviate from what is and what is not ethical also.
Ethics are reasonable obligations.
They are well based standards of what is right and what is wrong. They are based on well founded reasons as to what humans ought to do and how they should do it.
So ethics are ethical in the literal sense and to stand by what the definition actually means. It is in fact that society incorporates feelings and beliefs into what they consider to be ethical... ethics and morals are not the same.

Ethics are moot when you live a self serving life.

It doesn't matter if other people say it's right or wrong at this point, it's what works for you. Even if you constantly guilt yourself into feeling 'compassion' for someone who doesn't seem to have your prosperity you still don't find an ethical utopia because there will always be someone who doesn't want to play and will take advantage of you.

there is not much difference between political and religious institutions of a country, faith, or group.
a crowd is always political, it has to win, and u can only win others by using power- whatever be it.
hence, only individuals who r in their own spiritual jouney, can be expected to be ethical, if that means peaceful.
psychologically ethics is repression, religiously hypocrisy, and spiritually the innate nature.
