The characters in "The Purloined Letter" are superb. Asa matter of fact, all of Poe's mystery tales are a class apart.

My favorites...
That would have to be, The Black Cat, The Tell Tale Heart, The Raven, and The Pit and the Pendulum.
He really was an excellent writer.
His life story is my greatest inspiration.

I love Edgar Allen Poe! My favorite of his works has got to be The raven.

And quoth the raven 'Nevermore'.

Such an amazing piece of work! Sad, but amazing nonetheless.

I love The Raven, (especially when read in a deep, brilliant voice,) but the Tell-Tale Heart is brilliance as well, I find it difficult to pick a favourite as I enjoy all his work.

The Tell-Tale Heart and the Raven are my top favorites. The Pit and Pendulum always gives me chills. And the one about being buried alive...can't remember the name of it...creeps me out.

Mine's got to be "The Cask of Amontillado." I just love how the protagonist messes with his victim and toys with him over and over, offering opportunities to escape....truly twisted! And, it was done so poetically....Poe was truly a gift, but it seems that many great artists have tragic lives in one way or another.

I like all of Poe's work. Tha fall of the house of usher was probably my favorite. I loved the way the house was a personification.
