Do you consider Carlo Filice alturistic and if so do you think his article "On the Obligation to Keep Informed About Distant Atrocities" is biased? I mean, he blames the US for all worlds problems, accuses the US of creating bloodshed in 3rd world countries and he believes that we are naive to the worlds problems and we should enlighten ourselves so we can help others. Any opinions?? I want critical opinions please.

I have two very old books. I have been searching for more then a year to find a place to take them to find their value. They are both published by Belford & Clark Co. One is Miltons Poems - 1886 I don't know if that was the copyright date or the print date. The other is Scott's Poems and there is no date on this one. It just says Preface to first edition. I had another but my son got into it and ripped it all up. (I thank my husband for having SUCH a close eye on him while I was gone) Please help I find all kinds of books but none of them look like the ones I have....oh yeah and they are in MINT condition.....as far as I can tell and I am no expert.

i know it is crystal or lead crystal. and i know it is truly an antique because i am 40 now and i always remember it placed on there dining room table for holiday dinners since i was a child. i inherited it from my grandma who said it was a wedding present from her parents who got it as a wedding present themselves. it has no manufacturer markings on it. i have looked all over on the internet and cant find anything that looks similar. i am just wondering if anyone can help me as to find out if it is very valuable. i know it is hand cut on the exterior. im not smart on antiques but i can spot hand cut crystal. even if i snap my finger on the base of it which is quite thick it makes a very prominent ringing tone. any help would be appreciated. its 10 and 1/4 tall and 3 and 3/8 inches at the base. i can email a picture if anyone knows much about this. im going to sell it and i want true market value.

True justice would be to put him in a pit with a couple of pit bulls In giving your opinion of the sentence, please keep In mind that he is responsible for having two innocent animals put in a pit and tearing off each others flesh and fighting to the death. Realistically, I guess, 10 yrs. in prison certainly would not be out of the question.

okay, so i've decided to learn the violin.... or the viola... :S
i really got passionate about learning and just listening to the music, from watching La Corda d'Oro an instrumental anime... but that's beside the point.
what i understand now is that there are more leading parts for violin, and just more music in general than the viola. the violin is smaller, thus easier to hold. i don't really know how much music there is for viola, but i know it's an alto instrument, so it will have more harmonizing parts, that's what i don't like, and its bigger....
i'm leaning towards the violin, but i know that viola players are less common everywhere....
please help me!! any info and opinions would be great! ^_^

I noticed a local museum in my area named The Black Holocaust Museum. Considering the word Holocaust actually is Greek for 'Burnt' 'Whole' or roughly 'Death by fire' and was used only after WWII to describe the experience of the those in the Concentration camps, is it fair to apply the word to the Black experience in America? Obviously what the Jewish, African Americans and Native Americans have suffered is awful, but is Holocaust the best 'label' for the African American experience? I ask this as a serious historian looking for serious answers only.

I have to present a poem for speech tournament prep on Friday. I don't have a freaking poem. It has to be 5-7 minutes, including an introduction which sets the mood and tells the title and author. It has to be from a published source. It has to tell a story and have a beginning, middle, and end. I remember my friend Cooper did one that was like David Talamante or something. Does anyone know that? Or anything? Please, help me out here.

Ok so I'm a freshman in high school and we had auditions last night for Oklahoma. I've been working for weeks on my audition... and everyone said I did an awesome job. Today in Choir and Theatre my teachers (who are the directors) said I had an amazing audition. I didn't get called back for the role I wanted (Ado Annie) but I did get called back for Gerttie. I got put in the chorus... i didn't even get the small singing part from Out of Your Dreams (stage version) what did I do wrong? Why is it that all the popular people got leads? and yes there was a mix of freshmen cast members who got bigger roles. I've had experience of three other musicals from a theatre troupe close to where I live too. Am I being a "Small Actor"? :-(

a few are " bad apples?" note: the Q is phrased hypothetically to avoid the necessity of U having to defend your personal views. The empasis is on the arguments for or against the idea

Examples illustrating the idea applied in fact, R the economic, trading, & technology transfer sanctions or restrictions placed on entire nations to get the gov'ts or the leaders to change course. Nations which have been sanctioned in this way: North Korea, Iraq under Sadaam & Slovenia under Milosovic, Libya under Qadafi. A nation currently under the unilateral sanctions by the US, Cuba under Fidel.

Pls do not digress into the specific examples unless they directly relate to the ethics(the morality) of collective punishment under the ethical theory of Utilitarianism. The theory says ethical actions should always be based on maximizing "the greatest good for the greatest number of people".
Only those philosophy-based A's focused on the issue of *collective punishment will be considered for BA.

I’ve always wanted to act since I was about 4, but I lived in the Philippines and moved here about 5 years ago so I thought this was the way to get my dream to come true. I’ve also heard that a lot of beginning actors and actresses got their first gig at Disney channel. So I was wondering if they had any open casting calls and if you need an agent to audition. Thanks!
