What is the right expression to say that someone sat on the couch after a surprising news? I mean, is "landed on the couch" good enough?

Going to be in a car with my wife for 20 hours+ next month. Looking for some good book recommendations. She likes authors like Anita Shreve and Wally Lamb. Any suggestions?

Hint: DO NOT recommend a book from Anita Shreve or Wally Lamb. I have those covered.

I'm writing a research paper, and I need a thesis statement (1-2 sentences) answering the question: "Why is the novel 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' considered a classic?

The thesis needs to directly relate themes to the story so if you haven't read, please don't respond.

The thesis should be written only on a 9th grade level.

PLEASE!
and thank you...

"Literally, love of wisdom, philosophy is the systematic, critical examination of the way in which we judge, evaluate, and act, with the aim of making ourselves wiser, more self-reflective, and therefore better men and women."

so god puts all these rules and if you dont follow them you get punished. but he even takes it a bit further and makes the worst rule to break is to deny him. isnt that a little egotistical. what are your comments.

I'm not a complete newbie, I'm aware of a lot of the major philosophies and their ideaologies but it seems that every time I start reading about one thinker it just leads on to more movements and more important people & it just seems a bit too much to take (for example when I first got into Sartre, he made a reference to Heidegger which made me want to go find out more about him too, similarly when I looked into Marx I ended up studying Lenin and so on too...) basically I'm asking who are the most important people to read? I'm 15 so I'm not really that experienced in these matters, I just find it interesting, so sorry if this Q is silly...

When you discover the meaning of life you will know the reason for death. The entire totality of humanity is being held responsible for the death of one man, unjustly.
It is not religion. It is law. Study what a person convicted of cold-blooded murder must do to satisfy the court that he can be rehabilated. Then you will know where you stand. Then you can motion for clemency and perhaps begin the process to reverse the death sentence on yourself.

Please just note that in this question the distinction between stress and anxiety means a lot, and that anxiety is our focus .

I came upon a kind of road choice, There stands up ahead, two Law Books. One has been at work longer than most have lived, The other is an off shoot, Law Book, young and quite demanding of a rightful place , so much so that it wants the other Law Book taken away and placed in bondage and out of sight. Of course, I do prefer one over the other and isn't that just the way to go.

My old high school is allowing me to audition for the upcoming play. the way they assign parts is a little unfair. the leads are given to students that participate every play, and the newer people (even if they have great acting skills) get the extra parts. I have never auditioned for anything more than a commercial and thats not very hard. my other plays were at my private school of 45 kids so everyone gets a good part and the class is small. this class has over 100 kids in it. most have been mean to me in the past. how can i put all this behind me and show them how good i really am (and maybe change their minds on who gets the lead/supporting roles)? i have to sing for it and im not supe confident in my singing. everyone who has heard me (except for two people) says i am great. any tips to not sound nasaly? thanks.
