It seems that in order to prove logic, one would need to assume logic, so the proof would assume its own truth, thus being circular.

But is there not another way to prove logic? Take for example "if A is bigger than B, and if B is bigger than C, then A is necessarily bigger than C". This is necessarily true.

The above has supposedly to be taken on faith but consider the following experiment.

Let's say i put three rocks of different sizes next to each other. I name them A, B and C. Now, from this observation it will be evident that if A is bigger than B and if B is bigger than C then there is no alternative but to keep A as the biggest rock. It is evident from the senses.

According to me, logic can be demonstrated this way, but not according to the philosophers. Can anybody show me where my reasoning fails?

Hello from the UK, I was wondering if the American people see Jack Ruby as a good guy as he killed Lee Harvey Oswald, who himself killed a popluar leader?

Would it be a bit like someone having assassinated Winston Churchill then being murdered themselves, as a British equivalent? Sorry if this is a poor comparison but I'm not exactly the shiniest tool in the box! Just wanted to know whether I have it right that JFK- good, LHO- bad, JR- good.

Thanks

I haven't been able to find much information on the Gutenberg Bible. I have found out what it was printed on and stuff like that but my question is:
What were the effects of the Gutenberg Bible on society (for that time)?

If you can't answer this particular question please throw in any info about him that I may not have yet. Thanks :)

I tend to fall into the information overload catergory when describing a setting. It's like I'm fascinated with describing the visual details of the place, its society, or the history of the place I'm writing about, regardless of whether the reader cares. How can I train myself focus more on character development, and not just descriptive worlds and complicated plots (at the cost of not having developed characters?)

"...everybody seems satisfied with how much they have of it."

Let's assume you had the possibility to become more intelligent (or less, if you like) for a special REASON.
When your wish is fulfilled, would that REASON still be valuable or relevant? Wouldn't you think different about being dumb or smart as soon as your intellect changed?

If yes, can that then be taken as proof of correctness for the statement above? What else are its implications?
If no, what then changes with the change of your intellect? And what would be better / worse if you were dumber / smarter than you are now? How would your life change? Is it really only a matter of "survival of the fittest"?

When I draw pictures I tend to make them very tiny, because I get bored coloring and my mistakes are more glaring when I make my pictures bigger. I also still haven't gotten over my childhood phobia of running out of paper. The problem is in art class I always end up with insanely detailed textures (mapped mathematicaly often using a grid) in some areas, and large chunks of empty space which I hastly fill in with quick hills, grass, sky, or anything so that my art teacher won't complain too much. Problem is, that undeveloped space looks ugly. So does anyone else who have the same problem; and/or a solution?

I just finished "Charmed Thirds" by Megan McCafferty, and like these kind of novels. But I've also read Stephen King and Nicholas Sparks. Open to all suggestions.
