Pagliacci, is the tragic tale of love, jealousy, and murder among a band of touring clowns that was drawn from an actual incident reported in the newspapers of the day. It takes place in a small Sicilian town on Easter Sunday. He (Pagliacci) is convinced that his wife is having an affair with another performer and stabs her to death before horrified on lookers to whom he then cries, "La commedia e` finita !!!!! (The show is over) This opera is about seventy minutes long, it's a one act play. Hope this helped, and where did you hear that Pavarotti is dying, I haven't heard that, tell me it's not true ?????????? This is one of my favorites, and the songs from this opera are among the saddest that I've ever heard !!!!
