I like to think of the time that someone on here said that their favourite song from the opera Carmen was 'Have you got a light, boy?' It suggests that we artistes should not be too precious or pompous when defending culture. There is room for evrybody. I smile and heed his warning.

I think a quote that helps me get through everything is "always think positive" because when your positive everything usually turns out the way you wanted it to.

I'm looking for either nursery rhymes, rhyming books, or just stories. My daughter has plenty of books on animals, animal sounds, ABC's, counting, words, etc. Can anyone just name some fun books that don't neccessarily have to do with learning? Title and Author would be awesome, thanks!

lately i have been having anxiety over the feeling that nothing is real and everything is just an illusion and everyone i have ever known and loved is just a hallucination.

or in philisophical terms: solipsism.

however i am reading a book that basicaly disproves the theory and proves that ther are without a doubt other minds that you co-exist with. but the only reason the theory is proved infallible is because you cant actualy experience an others conciousness.

but how else do i know that everything is actualy real?? the feeling of this unreality is common in anxiety sufferers but the feeling feels so real and if its truth.

life just is so bizzare sometimes and just feels so weird.

Reasoning - If an athiest is right.... both he and I will experience nothingness for eternity. If I am right, and the Bible is correct, and there is a God and salvation is real, he is going to have a very hot eternity.

Then again I guess the evolutionist and the athiest already knows everything, so what do they even defend their belief system (or lack thereof) for? I wish I knew it all too.

Because I criticized a play, my wife said, "If you think you can do better, write one yourself."
I am now going to try and since I've been told that "one should not begin to write a play until one has an ending in mind," I am looking for an ending.

I would like an ending that would make the audience leave the theater thinking seriously about the affect on the Leading Man or Woman.

What do you suggest?

I'm a university student in the third year of my Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English. I'm looking to build up a writing portfolio and get some articles/stories etc. published. I really am not sure how to go about doing this. I'm considering doing some freelance writing while I'm finishing the degree. Any help or even small tips would be appreciated :) Thx

Hey folks,
does anyone know where I can get good, sturdy fountain pens from?

I really don't want anything expensive from the likes of Cross, Mont-Blanc, etc...

There is something I was thinking about. When a person we love dies, are we sad, desperate, depressed because of ourselves or because of them? Are we sad because that person lost life or because we won't be able to live without that person? Do we want them to be alive because we couldn't live without them or...?
I don't know... I mean, I'm sure that if something like that happened to the person I love... I would kill myself because I couldn't live without Him... But I don't want Him to die (yet) because He deserves to live and because He has so much to give...
What do you think?

The U.S. provided weapons to Afghanistan so they could fight the USSR. Afghanistan ended up as a repressive regime offering shelter to Al-Quaeda.

They gave helped Iraq to fight Iran. Iraq invaded Kuwait.

They supported Batista. Castro took over, and has been opposed to the U.S. ever since.

It seems like the U.S. doesn't see the long term in its foreign policy. Have they had any successes since 1945?
