In near future the people will look for more energy efficient home. One of the newly constructed building in Toronto University has the glass all around it and then the sensors allow the maximum intake of sunlight during daytime. Well this may be use full for northern states. But I always imagine a roof of photoelectric panel which could provide electric green power it could be used to heating or cooling as needed. Another thing i would like to use in the future home is non flammable material which could save thousands of life every year around the globe. If you want to build a house near sea shore you could use a windmill and it could produce a lot of electricity. This in not just an idea you could really go the city hall and talk to development planner and you could also find some investors, initially sponsors, for your project. Since global warming is the hottest issue at this time everyone will like your idea. For past you have to see the history or ask your elders if you have any> I have no idea.
Good luck to you dear

homes that were built at 50 AD in Britain were usually made from cross hatching twigs and then cover over with clay to dry and painted (the twigs acted as a base. The rooves were made from hay. It is shaped as a circle and the whole home was just one room. In the middle food were cooked and in the middle of the roof there is a hole for sunlight and boiling water to leave. The room really is quite simple. A few hay-stuffed or wool-stuffed (from sheep) beds.
A typical modern house is just made from red bricks as a base and inside there would be a small layer of wood to keep warmth. Rooves are made from tiles. Shaped to let water run off. Just examine your own house if you want to know more.
A future house can be your inmagination because there is no real evidence of what houses would look like in the future. Here is some ideas:
1) Avery inmaginay idea: Made all from unbreakable, protective glass. You can alter the form- turn it into privacy glass so no one can see you or just transparent ones for sunshine. Rooves would just be heat waves- any rain which lands will evaporate. House can be shaped whatever you choose. There will be esculators. The house can either teleport to fixed locations that you choose or fly there from the use of a renewble energy so no money can be wasted- it will fly as same as rocket does. If you dont like your neighbour just fly off! or you simply want a new environment!
2) realistic estimation: The buildings will be all metal with shock-wave absorbers to prevent earthquake damage. By then all our un renewable energy sources will probably be used up so probably there would be solar panels on rooves which is converted into electricity for use for the whole house. There will be auto-cameras flying around your property for intruders. By then deforestation will have caused most trees to be gone so there would be artificial ones for your gardens. If you are rich enough you can afford real trees as they will be so scarce! By then the green-house effect would be a problem. This will meanm there will be too much carbon dioxide so the house will be filled with the right ammount of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen by a house device otherwise you will get carbon dioxide poisoning, perhaps?!
hope this helps, good luck!

I'm not sure how other people have responded to your question – but I remember hearing about prefabricated homes. I found a couple links that you may want to mention for your "futuristic homes" section in your report.
Check these out:

Structures and styles have definitely changed. There seems to be a strong trend on uniting the outside of the home with the inside. Your home is suppose to be your haven after your stressful day outside (at work, in traffic, etc.) There are more conveniences in the home than before. And with prefabricated homes you can have the home of your dreams built whenever and wherever you want. Homes in the past usually were built closer to the heart of the town..people now days are venturing out farther to find some peace and quiet and commute to work.
Best of luck on your report!

I recommend that you ask your grandparents for pictures of your parents when they were growing up (look in the background of these pictures and see the way they decorated) for past looks, check out friends and relatives homes for present looks, and create a vision from these pictures and places, you'll notice that looks from the past are coming back, so you know they'll be back in the future. People thought that the year 2000 would be very futuristic but is it - no; we're bringing back styles and it will continue. Hope I helped - good luck!

Just close your eyes and think about how homes might be in the future. If you've seen any sci fi movies or shows, that should give you some ideas to start with. Don't try to hard to think about how things would be. Let your subconscious mind take over and the thoughts should flow freely.
You could also start sketching, without putting too much conscious thought into it.

Some of the sites from this list might help you. How were homes in past? Caves initially. Where were they located? Near the things they needed to survive - water and food. Take a deep breath and think about how man progressed from caves to indian dwellings to huts and houses. And Don't Panic. =0)

In the past, all they used to build homes were pieces of wood, or bamboo (lol) then it got improved into vinyl sidings, then comes the brick homes in our present time.
If you asked me, the ideal home is built in the middle of forest, with big bay windows>open concept so you always can connect with nature.

Making homes more vertical will be important as land is used up. How can you maximixe a tall living space? Making homes self-sustainable is becoming more popular. How can you use alternative energies and recycle your waste?
Be creative.

WHAT YOU SHOLD FOCUS ON IS THE KITCHEN AND BATHROOMS. ALMOST EVERY OTHER ROOM IN A HOUSE HAS NOT REALLY CHANGED VERY MUCH WITH THE EXCEPTTION OF LIGHTING (TRACK LIGHTING) BUT THE KITCHEN AND BATHROOM HAS CHANGED A LOT WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY AND ARCHATECHTURE
