I've loved "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee since I first read it as a kid. I love the perspective as it's told from remembrance and I absolutely love Atticus Finch and his commitment to principle.

I love The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien. Also The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks. Give me wizards, elves, dwarves, magic, and a sword-and-sorcery adventure, and I'm hooked. Good vs. evil. Ordinary Joe going up against not-quite-all-powerful bad guy. Dorothy and the Wicked Witch. Luke Skywalker and Vader. You get the idea.

My favorite book is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It is about a teenager who moves in with her father because her mother has re-married and is moving with her new husband. She starts at a new school where she meets a mysterious young man who appears to hate her instantly. Despite this she finds herself drawn to him and eventually discovers his secret, that he's a vampire. (not really a spoiler, you can figure that much out from reading the inside flap of the book). This book was very exciting and romantic and I really just can't say enough about it. Definitely not just another typical vampire tale.
