My 2-year-old, SPAYED* cat has put on about 2 pounds/1 kg over the last couple of months from being indoors for the winter. I've just noticed a couple of swellings on her belly right around where her rearmost pair of nipples are. At first I was frightened but I don't think they're likely to be mammary tumours 'cos they're symmetrical on each side, and soft, not lumpy. (Granted I'm obviously not a vet so I'm just guessing from the instructions for "self breast exams" handed out to human women.)

Just wondering if anyone's seen this kind of thing in their cats when they get chubby. Is this a typical place to accumulate fat? A vet student answering someone else's question called it a "fat pad". "Catboobs"?

Oh and in case anyone wants to go health nut on me, I've started taking her for walks to work the chub off.

What is your opinion on spanking with pants down? I'm personally not opposed to spanking, although I don't really use it except for a couple of rare occasions, but smacking your child's bare bottom? Doesn't that seem wrong somehow? Maybe not so much for a toddler, but certainly a 4 or 5 year old. Anyway, what are your thoughts/reasons on this?

us going 50+ mph. It would have been a hit and run, but we chased him home and the police got him after they kicked down his door. He had no insurance card on him at time of arrest, nor any money or debit cards, etc. Now my insurance guy (USAA) is trying to contact him to get insurance info out of him (if he even has it), and he is not answering his phone. Today, my USAA agent handling the uninsured motorist section of our policy called asking me about our injuries. I was on vicodin/valium and had to talk to her like I knew what I was saying. 3 out of the 4 of us in the car (my 3 yr old, my husband and myself), went to hospital that night. I have back & jaw problems already and told her about them and how the accident "aggrivated" these conditions. My husband is having neck pain and so far nothing with my daughter.

Questions are: Did I screw myself talking about any preexisting conditions? How much can we expect to receive for pain & suff. and how soon should we settle?

6 Years ago I had my first baby. About 4 weeks after having him I had an anxiety attack. Here I am 6 years later still with the anxiety attacks. Will they ever go away?? I am not on any meds right now because I breast feed my youngest child. But I am just wondering if it is like a on off switch. One day I have anxiety, and one day it is gone for good. (You know, the way it came). Has anybody else experienced this type of anxiety for years after having a baby?? I am tired of dealing with it, and needs some answers. Please help....

My mother eats black eyed peas every New Year's day. She says it brings good luck thoughout the year and she won't start the year without them.

Do you know any other New Year's superstitions? (Even if you don't personally believe that they're true.)

just to let you know, this did NOT happen to me
i'm taking a self defense class at school and we are put in these rape scenarios...and that made me have a lot of questions about what is considered rape

okay two circumstances, would they be considered rape and what would the average jail time be for the rapist?

1. a minor (say, 15) is walking home from school, a man jumps out, says that he has a knife and she needs to do whatever he tells her to, and begins to undress her and have sex with her...however, she is in shock and does not say no and does not resist the man from having sex with her because her body is in shock. (would the rapist only be charged with statutory rape or other charges as well?)

2. the same scenario except with somebody over 18

I suppose he's seen as a bad influence now. Since cookies are such an unhealthy diet choice which could lead to childhood diabetes, God forbid we should let our children watch a puppet dumping them down his throat by the boxful. Maybe his habit's seen as an addiction or OCD. Whatever...

So they come up with "Elmo," a little wimpy substitute version who eats his vegetables. What a putz.

No wonder we live in such a violent society nowadays.

Poor people in America aren't really poor compared to the rest of the world. Most poor people in this country have a roof over their heads, a tv, a cell phone, etc.
