Rinse the rice before you cook, in a seive, until the water runs clear.
You should use the ratio of 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice. 1 cup of rice should be enough for 2 people. Add a pinch of salt to the water and bring to the boil. Add the rice once the water is boiling. Bring to a simmer over a medium-low heat and cover. Cook for 20 minutes. You'll be tempted to check on it but don't. Just leave it covered for the 20 minutes and it should be ready. It's ready when the rice has absorbed all the water. If it hasn't, cover it again and leave it a little longer until all the water has absorbed. But don't let it boil completely dry or let it burn.
If you still struggle, buy the frozen stuff that you microwave in the bag for a couple of minutes, it's quicker and you can't get it wrong.

Here is how I cook rice:
1. Get a medium-sized sauce pan with a lid.
2. Put in your rice. (1-1/2 cups is usually enough for my family. You can easily vary the amount without worrying.)
3. Add water to the depth of the first joint of your index finger above the rice. (If I'm cooking a lot of rice, i.e. 3 cups, I sometimes add a tiny bit more.)
4. Place over medium heat and bring to a boil until you can see "pock marks" through the froth.
5, Cover and set the pan to the side, off the heat, for 15 minutes.
Simple, easy nearly perfect rice every time.

1 cup rice (long grain is best)
2 cups water
1 tbsp butter/margarine
Put all into a pot, bring to a boil, once it starts to boil allow it to boil for a full 5 minutes. At 5 minutes turn off the heat and put a lid on it, leave it for a full 20 minutes, do not take the lid off until 20 minutes has passed. You will have nice white rice.
If you want more just remember the ratio 2:1 Two parts water to 1 part rice. butter/Margarine optional.

2 c. rice
1/2 tsp. salt
In a heavy pot with a lid, bring 2 c. water to a boil. Add rice and salt and lower heat
Cover the pot and simmer rice for 15 to 20 minutes.
After 15 minutes, take off the pot lid and test a few grains of rice - if the center is at all crunchy, simmer a few more minutes.
Test rice again. When it's done, fluff it with a fork to let steam escape and help keep grains separate.
enjoy also great with soy sause!!!

Put rice in a pot, cover rice with one inch of water (above the rice). Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, and put a tight lid over the top that doesn't release the steam. In twenty minutes, it's done. The trick is to not peek for 20 minutes, and don't let steam escape.

Boil in bag rice is pretty foolproof.
I have a Black and Decker rice cooker and veg steamer. It makes rice perfectly without burning. Might be worth an investment if you eat a lot of rice. It also makes perfect steamed veggies too.

ok, what kind of rice you are using? I advice you to bye a rice name "Telda" or " Tilda" I guess this is the name, you can find it in Indian stores.
1st take 2 cups of rice and leave them covered alilbit in water for about 10 minutes.
remove all the water after that, than boil them with 3.5 cups of water.
keep an eye on them and DON'T move the rice while boling
When the water evaporate and the rice empty of water, then taste it and see if it's ready......DON'T forget to add alil salt (I always forget LOL)
Then enjoy it
don't use oil or anything.......
Best :D
