I'll tell you what it isn't: being teased and disagreed with on a public internet forum.

Homosexuals don't have the right to get married to the person they love. Agnostics and Atheists can't run for public office in many states. Women still have to fight for the right to do with their own body what they please.

Christians are the vast majority in this country. Their beliefs shape most public opinion and laws. And some of them still think they're somehow persecuted.

How ridiculous is that?

I am in a somewhat unique position.
I am 36 years old, and I have 1.2m in my IRA.
I know that this is a problem that alot of people would like to have, but it presents me with an interesting delimma.

Because it is a substantial percentage of my net worth, I would like to find out if there are any ways to get to the money with less penalty (get the most out possible). I would like to make my life "simpler" by paying off my mortgage (I'm getting ready to start a family).

I'm watching American Dad, it is the one where the mom carrys the baby of the gay couple next door. And the dad kidnaps the couples daughter to try and put it up for adoption because he thinks it is wrong. WTF???? this isn't exactly helping our cause any!!

i need to lose weight its been months since im trying but i havent lost a pound because i end up eating junk food its not like im hungry its just that i know its tasty even if i am hungry i dont wnat to eat junk so ya... and i eat it, is there any drink (other then water) because water makes me sick if im hungry and drink water. i dont want to eat between meals.

Okay, so here's the problem. There's this guy (say James) who paid $15 to manufacture for a shoe. When he receives the pair of shoes, he has it marked to be sold at $21. So this customer (say Bob) comes with a counterfeit money of $50. Not knowing the the $50 is counterfeit James goes to his next door shop neighbor (say Mark) to get some change he James basically exchanges his counterfeit $50 for real $50. The James gives his customer Bob his change and the shoes. Later, the next day, Mark comes back to James to ask for a real $50 back when he (Mark) realized that the money was fake. How much money did James lose?

I think the answer is $94 but I also got a whole lot of other answers so I don't know. Please give your answer and an explanation.

In my philosophy class we are assigned a topic and must argue in defense of our topic. My topic is in favor of materialism and that the conscientiousness is product of our brain(so pretty much there is no soul and everything exist in the physical world).

What are some good arguments supporting materialism?

So far I have: Identical twins(their behavior is similar even when separated at birth), (Strong)Artificial Intelligence, and Bio-digital Teleportation (taking a person's body turning it into data and "faxing" it to another location to be reconstructed).

Any other ideas on what I can present? Also what are some contrasting views? Since this is a debate I'm am going to need to rebut any opposition.

i was in my world history class and my teacher said that jesus founded christianity, which i found quite funny, because he couldn't answer it and because people didn't start worshipping him until after he died so how could he have started the religion?

and i also know people who claim that he was a christian which is even crazier because he was jewish. and, paul is the one who told people that jesus was the son of god and all of that stuff, even though paul was his enemy while he was alive, so my other question is why is he trusted? because most of the bible doesn't quote jesus, it quotes his apostles and paul

hey everyone!! i was at a forensics competition a couple of months ago and heard this fantastic poem in during poetry finals. all i can remember of it is a line: "rules of eden written on our backs" I know this is not a lot to go off of...believe me, Google couldn't even help me!!! It seems like Hawking is confusing our inability to measure quantum events without interfering with the events actually being random. I think that determinism could still be true and all things are governed by consistent laws even if we don't have the ability to accuately observe quantum events at a moment in time (in an effort to predict the future), agree?

I'm not like most people that are angry that their team isnt in a good bowl because I'm a Virginia Tech fan and we got a good bowl. I think that the NCAA develops a playoff system so its fair for all teams. I believe they should get rid of the ranking system too because you could be ranked higher than the team that wins the conference and that makes no sense. I believe the winners of each conference go to a playoff then the winning percentage and strength of schedule dictates their seeding because alot of teams are 11-2 or something like that. What are your thoughts and could you add ideas to it.
