Corn muffins. My parents never let me forget it.
I was 9 and I asked mom why we use baking powder or baking soda in it. She said to make them get "fluffy" So after almost finishing mixing it, I dumped in a whole bunch more. There were clumps, sort of pockets, of dry baking soda in it when they bit into them but they ate them and smiled so as not to crush my tiny ego. They said they both were in the toilet afterward. They loved to tell that story.

I vaguely recall my kindergarten class "cooking" doughnuts out of canned biscuits, but I learned how to scramble an egg when I was 8 or 9. On a sidenote I absolutely love to cook, used to run a small catering business out of my home. Still do the odd job now and then...ramble over :)

The first thing I remember learning how to cook was on a Christmas morning YEARS ago. It wasn't the first thing I had made, but the first time I picked out the recipe! It was just scrambled eggs but with paprika sprinkled on top. Being a young kid, I thought that made them so totally different.
Santa had brought me my first cookbook and I still have it. It's Betty Crocker's New Good and Easy Cook Book 1962!

the first thing i cooked was sausage and pancakes. i was 6 and found the sausage in the freezer it was links we lived on a farm and homemade sausage was always in the freezer. i put some water on it and steamed it until it was mostly done took the lid off and then browned it when it was almost done stirred up some pancakes. not a mix either, we didnt have a mix in the house i made them from my moms betty crocker cookbook. and did them in a cast iron skillet we didnt have any nonstick cookware back then. funny thing is i prefer cast iron skillets to this day and that is all i have in my house now.

I don't know what the first thing I learned to cook was, but the first thing I ever cooked by myself was hamburgers. They weren't completly done, and I burned myself pretty badly. I was really proud that I had cooked them by myself especially since I was 8 at the time.

CREAM PUFFS.
Horrified when the egg separated from the ingredients, but it was a good lesson to learn. Almost threw the stuff away, but kept on beating, and walla! It all came together. So did the other eggs.
They came out pretty good, considering how it was my first adventure.

Started my interest for sushi, and they were really whacky!!
The first cake I baked all by my self is a chocolate cake, with lots of whipped cream on top!!
