i was in my world history class and my teacher said that jesus founded christianity, which i found quite funny, because he couldn't answer it and because people didn't start worshipping him until after he died so how could he have started the religion?

and i also know people who claim that he was a christian which is even crazier because he was jewish. and, paul is the one who told people that jesus was the son of god and all of that stuff, even though paul was his enemy while he was alive, so my other question is why is he trusted? because most of the bible doesn't quote jesus, it quotes his apostles and paul

Ok, lets start at the beginning. "Christianity" is just a term for those who accept a relationship with Jesus. Jesus did not found a new religion- he was the messiah sent by the God the Jews already worshiped. He was followed and worshiped while he was alive (he had followers during the years he went around teaching). Paul experienced a spiritual conversion-which is the whole point of Christianity. He risked his life and all he had to follow Jesus. And the teachings of the apostles/Paul came via the Holy Spirit which is within all who accept a relationship with Christ.

Supporters of the Judeo-Christian concept point to the Christian claim that Christianity is the heir to Biblical Judaism, and that the whole logic of Christianity as a religion is that it exists (only) as a religion built upon Judaism. In addition, although the order of the books in the Christian Old Testament and the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) is different, the books are the same. The majority of the Old Testament is in fact Jewish scripture, and is used as moral and spiritual teaching material throughout the Christian world. The prophets, patriarchs, and heroes of the Jewish scripture are also known in Christianity, which uses the Jewish text as the basis for its understanding of Judaeo-Christian patriarchs, prophets and heroes such as Abraham, Elijah and Moses. As a result a vast chunk of Jewish and Christian teaching is based on the same inspiration.

Jesus was Jewish. Jesus wasn't the founder of Christianity, he IS Christianity. Christian means follower of Christ.

The first known usage of the term can be found in the New Testament of the Bible, in Acts 11:26: "the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch." The term was thus first used to denote those known or perceived to be disciples of Jesus. Similarly, in the two other New Testament uses of the word (Acts 26:28 and 1 Peter 4:16), it refers to the public identity of those who follow Jesus.

The earliest recorded use of the term outside the Bible was when Tacitus recorded that Nero blamed the "Christians" for the Great Fire of Rome in AD 64.

As a noun, Christian (Gr. Χριστιανός and variant Χρηστιανός, Strong's G5546) is an appellation deriving from the name "Christ" and is derived from the Greek noun Christos which means "anointed one," itself a translation of the Hebrew word Moshiach or "Messiah."

Jesus founded Christianity when he said...

"...I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6

Oh, and the Bible DOES quote Jesus. The four crucial books of the Bible are the story of Jesus, what Jesus taught and what Jesus SAID...

In fact, I've given you a quote from Jesus!

doesn't quote Jesus? have you ever read Matt/Mark/Luke/John?

people worshiped him while he was alive if you didn't know they
called him messiah for that matter

Jesus founded the "new way" whatever someone wants to label
it is irrelevent...we know in Acts that in anitoch they were first called christians...its doens't say who started the name...it
could have been the romans or arabs for all we know....but
people identified with Christ BEFORE he died....although they
were 99% jewish and not gentile...

Because they are ignorant of their own history and because the confuse "Jesus is the basis of Christianity" with "Jesus created Christianity."

Read C.S Lewis, "Mere Christianity" and you will know...Lewis by-the-way was a former atheist. Pretty smart too. So one could not question his intellect.

he didn't, otherwise he'd be worshipping himself...lol...and self worship is condsidered a sin...Jesus was a monotheist. Christians are technically NOT followers of Jesus, since they are not monotheists like he was.
