yea there is some negative views of gays displayed on tv, but unlike you i think it's becoming increasingly displayed in a positive manner, especially on tv. it seems like it's beed that way since will and grace. it's almost like you have to have a gay person in every show on tv if you want it to be successful. i dunno, just my opinion! =)
and i've never seen american dady, but more than likely it's just a show that tries to produce as much DRAMA as possible...lol...regardless of the sexual prefrence of it's characters!

I FEEL THE SAME WAY. Those TV shows are funny but sometimes i really get offended by the jokes, and I'm not gay or black or middle eastern I am an average white american. The jokes about different ethnicities and sexual preferences and especially about gender and women are really degrading to social growth and equality in real life. I am so amazed at how people are so quick to make generalizations and statements based on the things they see on TV (even news programs that use propoganda),then to turn around and say that television has no effect on their opinions/feelings, IT DOES... people are misinformed and interperet things in a number of ways. Every commercial break is something about sex, violence, wierdness, and bad jokes. lol it sucks

I see violence on television every day, and I haven't committed a violent crime because of it. So having gay prejudice on tv likely has little to no impact on the issue. Television reflects society more than it creates it. In any case, you miss the point of American Dad. He acts that way, and it is assumed you disagree with it. He comes across as being an idiot. That is why it is supposed to be funny.

It does help our cause, because it shows the problems which homophobia produces in our society. Homophobia is a sin, immoral and bad for society.
If you feel strongly about a program, write the station and complain. Or send a letter to the editor. Or put it in a blog. (Stating it here is a good thing to do, too.) Communicate to the world that homophobia is wrong. Raising consciousness is how you start to eradicate prejudice and bigotry.

Quickest answer I've ever given. The more of us that come out (with a positive, non-combative attitude) the more our society will accept us regardless of what's on the tube. One day it will be taboo in our society to bash the members of the gay community in public much like it is to call a person of African desent a ******. I can't even bring myself to say or type the word.

i'm an atheist and that i attempt to demonstrate kindness to anybody I meet. saying 'meant' and grouping all atheists below one heading is amazingly small minded of you. i do no longer think of faith is mandatory to demonstrate goodness in someones existence and be a solid/greater constructive person. the place does my 'goodness come from?' properly i think of countless issues make contributions to this. a million) upbringing.. i've got been taught by using my mothers and fathers what's incorrect and what's right 2) elementary experience. [which alot of individuals lack in cutting-factor-day society] 3) To be trouble-free i think of being a gay has make contributions slightly aswell. because of the fact of it i've got self assurance in never judging somebody earlier you comprehend them as I hate being likened or whilst in comparison with the stereotypes which exist. I additionally end myself judging by using appearances no remember how no longer elementary that's. 4) wish for a greater constructive international no remember how corny and cheesy that sounds yet i'm hoping human beings will come to grasp sometime that we are all human, no remember what shape, sort, sexuality, shade, nationality and so on... and decide human beings as persons. As i've got mentioned, being an atheist has no longer something to do with being solid or no longer. there are a number of solid atheists and there are a number of undesirable. there are a number of solid christians [as an occasion] and lots of who're undesirable and should no longer be waiting to call themselves non secular. you are able to no longer sum them up and team them jointly.

Look, Hollywood and the media is always a good decade slower than the rest of us. It's trying, I guess. The WAS Will and Grace and all. But, really, never EVER expect anything from Hollywood.

Depends on the resolution of the story.
In reality, it is usually the gov't agencies that are taking kids away from gay couples ... we have to worry more about that than individuals ...
We have such a long way to go.

The answer is for people NOT to be brainwashed by TV.
That, and/or by writing the show's creators and/or sponsors.
However, it is probably not realistic to ask people not to be brainwashed by TV - there are way too many vidiots out there.
