Why do salted pork, strawberry preserves, and sweet pickles not spoil even though they are exposed to bacteria?

This question was asked in relation to a lab on diffusion and osmosis in biology, if that helps.

I have a pure bred dog that wasn't suppose to be fertile. I was planning on getting her spayed a couple of months ago but kept putting it off because the vet said she likely couldn't get pregnant anymore. I've had her for 2 years and she has been in heat 3 times around my male of the same breed but hasn't become pregnant until now. She has had 2 litters of puppies in the past before i got her. She is 6 years old. I didn't bother writing down the date when she came into heat last time thinking she couldn't get pregnant. I never saw them tie either. I realized she was getting fat 2 weeks ago. I took her to the vet the next day and she had an ultrasound and had gained 3 lbs. The Vet guessed she was about 30 days along. So i'm guessing her delivery date is Dec.10. But today i noticed she's beginning to lactate.

Does it mean they like you? I like this guy and he stares at me A LOT. I saw one of them today and he kept starring at me and I want to know if he likes me or not. I don't really know him, and I think he's about a year or two younger than me, is that bad? Plus, when he's around me and his friends call him over, he makes excuses to keep by me. Is starring a sign of interest?

I see this here on this site and I've come accross it twice recently - I never heard this until recently - is this a new thing?
Why use such a derogatory word? It seems that a women can be single and on the dating scene and get called a whore, a woman is dating a married guy (ok its contensious, but a whore is surely extreme? )

Suppose no one sits down in their correct place. Show that it is possible to totate the table so that at least two people are sitting in the correct place.

This one's driving me nuts! I am pretty sure it has something to do with pairing the possible combinations of people and cards and the pigeon hole principle, but I'm pretty much stuck. Can anyone help me out with this one?
