Any advice for dealing with whistling in class? I regularly substitute teach, and yesterday taught 10th and 11th grade English in a very rough school. Throughout the day, the students kept whistling or giving low whoops -- enough to drive you absolutely nuts. Of course, they kept their heads down so it was impossible to determine who was doing it. As a substitute teacher I don't have the usual recourse the regular teacher has; I can't threaten w/ a referral or a call to their parents. I was able to keep pretty good order in the classroom (a minor miracle) but the whistling persisted. For the most part I ignored it because I knew that saying "stop whistling" or trying to find out who was doing it would only have escalated the problem. Anyone have any creative solutions? Thank you!

10 points... Anyone else get the creeps from this guy? I don't know about you, but he is the classic creepy dictator, emploring people with that "kind, knitted brow look"... "Trust me!!! You can trust me!!!" Wake up, America... This is how an evil dictator from a govt. with no checks/balances works. They appear calm and persecuted, then gain power to unleash unbelievable horrors upon people... I cannot believe how complacent and naive we are!!!

We moved in to our new house about 6 weeks ago and so far hardly anyone has come over to say hi, or if we are outdoors and see them across the yard, they still don't wave or smile. I know everyone loved the people that lived here before us, but come on! So, it's been 6 weeks and we are now settled and I am wondering if I should walk around and introduce myself? Even though they should have been the ones to do it...can I do it this late and not seem weird? Thing is, there are a lot of moms at home around here like myself and I'd really like to make a friend with similar interests to my own. Thanks for any advice!

Feel free to go into details. I'm thinking of starting one but I want to know how owning my own business could potentially help me reduce my taxes and allow me to reap a higher profit. Thanks

It would solve the immigration issue!
They have some nice beaches! We could just break it apart and make it a few more states! Their government is corrupt and pathetic anyways.
