This question is about alternating series. I understand that an alternating series converges if the limit tending to infinity is 0, and if the terms are decreasing throughout. If for a series, one of these tests for convergence fails and the alternating series test fails, what tests can you use to conclude that the series diverges? I'm thinking nth term, p-series, geometric series, but i'm not sure...please help =]. A sample question that I am working on is...

the series (-1)^n 3^(n-2) / 2^n with n from 1 to infinity
p.s. there is a multiplication between the n and the 3

My husband and I visited Nauvoo earlier this year on our way back from a vacation. We had heard that the area was beautiful which it was. While there, we toured the sites and visited the temple visitors center. A missionary gave us a tour and a book of mormon. I was really interested but my husband was being polite. He thinks that mormonism is a cult. I put the book away when we got home, but have since picked it up and read it. I am really interested in speaking with someone locally about the religion. I don't have any mormon friends to discuss it with. I have read that missionaries want to meet with the whole family, and I am not sure that I would be able to convince my husband to do that. I would like to learn more on my own and then go to my husband with it. Is there anyone out there that would like to talk to me about the religion? I would so very much appreciate it.

For nearly two thousand years, the Pentacle or Pentagram "Five Pointed Star" has been a Christian Symbol.

Specifically it is called "The Star of Bethlehem"

(The Star of David Has 6 Points Not Five so DO NOT CONFUSE THIS)

The Star of Bethlehem, as a Pentacle (Upward Star) has reference to The Five Wounds of Christ. 1 in each hand, 1 in each foot, and 1 in the side.

In other sects of Christianity, the Pentagram (Downward Star) has reference to "The Five Points of Fellowship"

All of a sudden and only within the last 100 to 120 years The Star or Bethlehem which has been a Christian symbol for thousands of year has been transformed into a "Satanic Occult Symbol" and this all done by the modern "Chrisitan" Movement.

I would like an explaination not a rant.

"As he describes in "The Audacity of Hope" Obama grew up in a non-religious environment. When he was a child in Indonesia, he attended a Muslim mosque school. That was enough for a group of detractors to circulate the rumor that he is a crypto-Muslim trying to gain control of the White House. What is true is Obama together with his wife (reared a Baptist) have been active members for a year at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. Obama describes his conversion in "The Audacity of Hope". The title of this book is borrowed from one of his pastor's sermons. He is at ease quoting Scriptures and speaking to church audiences."

I know that it stands for "Identification", but when I see "I.D.", What does that "D" stand for? If you get pulled over by a cop, and he asks for some I.D., can I say "My I.D.? Oh, do you mean my Identification Dentification"?

I'm sorry, I'm in a silly mood! It may be just another one of those things that doesn't have an explanation in the English language. Just curious for an answer, if there is one. I hope at least it brought about a laugh! Thanks and take care....

My son is seven years old and has had a interest in Jesus Christ and religion and has started asking some very interesting questions, some i could answer and some i couldn't, So i enrolled him in sunday school (which is something HE wanted to do.) Being Catholic myself (but not very religious) encouraged him to go. I myself never recieved Confirmation and always wanted to, so to set a good example for my son (and myself) i enrolled in the RCIA. My son came up to me and asked me a very intellectual question on Adam and Eve, here it is: "IF ADAM AND EVE WERE THE FIRST PEOPLE ON EARTH WHERE DID CAVE-MAN COME FROM??" I was stumped!! Any help?? Thanks!!
