They are both in the Northern Hemisphere.
Scotland however is cooler than the US during the fall.
It's usually between 6 to26 degrees celsius in the US and -1 to 18 degrees celsius in Scotland during the fall.

Hope all is well! I was in Edinburgh back in Oct 2005 for a few days. I would say that it was Autumn as well, but the temperature there was much chillier. I made the mistake of wearing shorts, a jacket is definitely needed.
It was also raining when we landed and pretty much rained throughout. It was at the same time that we had to set our clocks back an hour, so it was dark well into the morning hours more than I was used to.
This is only Edinburgh, unfortunately I didn't get to travel further north into Scotland, but I hope it gave you at least an idea....

Actuwally when it's FALL in the United States it's Autumn in Scotland.
