Harold Ballard made hockey in Toronto interesting during his reign of terror from the late 1960s until his death in 1990, but for all the wrong reasons. With bad trades, worse drafts, and head-scratching personnel decisions (bringing back Punch Imlach as GM in 1980, stripping Darryl Sittler of the captaincy, John Brophy as head coach), the Maple Leafs transformed themselves from powerhouse to hockey's answer to today's Pittsburgh Pirates.

Imagine for a moment that Ballard managed to beat his illness that would claim his life. What would the Maple Leafs be today? Would Mats Sundin even be in the organization, let alone captain? Would there have been spirited playoff runs in 1993 and 1994? Hell, would there even have been an Air Canada Center?

This guy who I have fallen deeply for is leaving for the army soon. I have never felt more close with anybody not even my own family. I know I can't force him into a relationship..he said he'd be with me if he wasn't leaving..and I'm not sure what a guy would expect of me? Would he wan't to hear that I'll be waiting for him or what? He means the world that I would do just that..but I'm not sure if a guy would be thrilled to hear a girl let them know that they will be waiting for them back at home? I just can't bare to think of losing the one person I feel so right with. I understand he needs to live a life of his own and I support that but I would one day hope to start where we leave off...so how do I tell him all this? What do you think I should do, what would a guy want for me to say or do?

I was in a liquor store in New Jersey; not buying anything, not touching anything, but standing in line with someone over 21 who was purchasing liquor. A man walks up to me asking for my license. I stated it was in the car and I would go get it. He follows me out to the car.. which I thought was odd because he was dressed in casual clothing. It turns out I left my license at the house. The man asked if I was 21 and I said yes... he proceeded to ask me about where I live, my social security number, etc. Not once did he state he was a cop nor was I aware he was one so, using my fifth ammendment rights I gave him inaccurate information. I did not know he was a cop until after he issued a police complaint to me for "mistating age". I believe this was a violation of privacy since the man never stated he was an officer of the law. I am summoned to go to court as I cannot just pay a fine and get it over with. I think this is completely rediculous. Any suggestions in my defense?

I don't think so. First of all, abortions are easily preventable because of abstinence and birth control. I know birth control isn't 100% effective, but it's close to 100% and in the extremely unlikely event that a birth control method fails, there's always adoption. I know people say there might have been exceptional circumstances that might have necessitated the abortion, but abortion is never the only solution. There's always a way around it.

My grandparents came from Italy. When my mom was young, people used to call her "Blacky" because of her darker skin. During WWII they enudured a lot of harrassment because of the Italy association with the tyrant, Mussolini. I'm now thinking I am entitled to some money because of all of the suffering of my people, pretty much like the American Indians or African Americans. Italian Americans have also suffered immensely, and I am wondering where I go to get some money to help me ease the pain of my people and compensate for this suffering.
Thanks!

I completely lost. Some people have suggested L'Hospital's Rule and some other stuff that my class hasn't covered. Right now, the teacher simply wants us to solve algebraically, not using some special properties. For example, in
lim x-->0 of sin2x / x I multiplied the top and the bottom by 2, making 2sin2x/2x, can celling the sin2x/2x, and leaving 2, so the limit was = 2. Something similar has to be done with these problems, thing is, I have no clue what to do.

remember that
sinx/x = 1 and 1-cosx/x = 0

I also don't know how to algebraically solve these 2 (and by the way, this is not homework, just practice for an upcoming test)

#3:
what is [ lim x-->0 ] the limit of ( sin^2(x) ) / (x) ?

#4

what is [ lim x-->0 ] the limit of ( x^2 ) / ( 1-cos(x) ) ?

and of course, the one in the actual question,

what is [ lim x-->0 ] the limit of ( x + sin(x) ) / (x) ?

Mine is Traditional American, but I can totally appreciate other tattoos, as long as they are artistic and well done.

I thinki that underground colonies would be 10 times safer than domed colonies, on the surface there is massive sand storms, high levels of solar radiation, and greater chances of meteors that could shatter the dome and breach the internal atmosphere, and with a underground colony the massive amount of soil would offer natural protection from high radiation, sand storms, and even protection from meteors, so i would say i would feel safer living in a underground colony than on the surface, what about you, would you live on the surface of Mars or underground on Mars?

In the Army, when you pick up trash, it's called a police call. I figured I'd catch on to it eventually, but now that I've been in for two years, I still have absolutely no idea why they call it that. It seems like a police call would be when you call the police. Does anyone have any idea where this term came from?

I noticed when my kids were little that some of their friends didnt like to be outside.

Now with the little guy and his even littler cousin you have to almost drag them outside. They want to spend all their time indoors parked in front of the TV or computer.

I remember when we were kids and our parents were yelling at us to come home to bed, and we were yelling "just a few more minutes".

The LAST thing we wanted to do was go indoors and quit playing outside - we wanted to sleep outside if our parents would let us, on the porch, in a tent, or where ever, just under th stars, with a sleeping bag.

I swear I dont know whats wrong with kids these days. So many of them look so unhealthy too, as if they've never SEEN sunshine and never breathed fresh air.

I have to do a group project in my History Class. You have to do a Collage of the following: What is an American? What America means to me, and My Impressions on the United States.

So my impressions of the United States is that we have a president that's on crack, we're filled with illegals (I have nothing against the illegals because my parents were once illegals). . . I could go on but I'd get in trouble for saying all that. So I need some ideas on What Is An American, What America means to me, and my Impressions of the United States.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I could say and do?

This may sound strange but my dog bites her toe nails (the two in the middle) on each of her hind feet! I never have to clip those four nails. Where she chews on them is a really nasty looking reddish-brown color. Could someone please tell me the best thing to use to clean them???

I am totally paranoid about looking respectable but not overdressed for job interviews.

I am going for science jobs, but i guess you could say i dress like an artist... weird. I don't try to look weird (i'm not some punk teenager) it just comes naturally. So i find it hard to dress appropriately when i need to.

I am not going well in interviews and I asked one interviewer for general feedback after i didn't get the job? among my questions i asked if my personal presentation was ok and she said it was fine, was she just being tactfull? (She poninted out a few other things i could work on, and she explained that there was another applicant that was much more qualified.)

I normally look somewhere between a goth, a feminine japanees punk, and a butch dyke, but no jewlery or make up, hard to describe really. I try to neaten up for job interviews, i'm just not sure if i "scrub up well".

Do you think i do "scrub up" alright?
Or was the interview lady just being tactful?

i absolutely love baby carrots, but i've found that they sometimes have a tendency to get mushy if they've stayed in the bag too long. and by mushy i mean they have the consistency of firm, cooked carrots, and a really weird taste. is this the equivalent of spoiling, or have they just absorbed too much water, or what? i eat the crunchy carrots out of the same bag, and i want to make sure i'm not like poisoning myself or anything.
