I have taken it, a few years ago, and it didn't affect my memory.

I took it for insomnia for a short time. I felt a little drowsy for a couple hours after i woke up. these drugs are not tested as thoroughly as they should be. When the FDA has to rely on the drug company to tell if there were problems it isn't in the companies best interest to show all the problems that came up. They group the problems in the unknown cause category. Then when these problems come up after being prescribed they say, well we did notice that problem but we didn't think it was caused entirely by the medication. It's getting so common to have bad reactions and the company will say oops we didn't think that it was as significant as it appears to be now. what a crock. My mom would lose periods of time on ambien, and the doctor took her off of it 9 years ago.

A lot of people have that problem.

Myself, I found that Ambien caused me to have severe, uncontrollable self injurious behavior. Now, I have bipolar disorder, but this was absolutely over the top, out of control behavior that never happened before or since, after one pill. So make sure someone pays attention to whether you have odd behavior or are super irritable, that kind of thing. The drug company won't fess up, but ambien is related to the benzodiazepine drugs, which about 5% of people have that side effect.

YES!!! I have had horrible memory loss from it. One time I had taken 10mg... apparently I had not fallen asleep. My mother said that I kept coming into her bedroom and trying to wake her up. I guess I was just acting really goofy. We counted the pills in the morning and found out that I had taken 2 more and couldn't remember it.

Until then, the memory loss wasn't severe. I would take the medication and then put in a movie. By the time I couldn't remember what was going on in the movie, I would turn it off.

After that incident, I quit taking it. If I have the chance of overdosing on a medication, and not remembering it, that's not a good thing.

Nope, when I took Ambien CR, I feel really drowsy and went to sleep.
However, I have never felt that it affects my memory.

Definately. I was prescribed ambien after a close friend died. Occasionally I would tell someone something, and they would respond "I know, you called me this morning." After this happened several times, I quit taking it.

Yes I've taken it and no it hasn't. But it can, apparently. It's listed as one of the possible side effects. I'd advise that you stop taking it immediately and talk to your doctor if you're getting this side effect.

No, I take Tylonol for head aches. Asprin harms stomach linings. As for affecting memory only if taking more than recommended.

I only take it every once in a while so I don't think I've noticed it affecting my memory. Yet anyway!

it's too bad US took codeine off the OTC market, it's a great sleep aid when taken only occasionally...they still sell it OTC in some countries and can be found online if you hunt for it
.....also a great pain reliever that doesn't screw up your liver or kidneys....seems like the FDA loves a drug with side-effects but hates the ones that come natural and cheap.....not enough profit in them i guess!!
