I have heard some very negative feedback about real estate that the Church of the Later Day Saints runs in New York City. They have forced people to give up their apartments with only 30 days notice and demanded rent increases that are ridiculous given the current state of their properties. I have heard they are very poorly managed at the top level and are only concerned with profit Poor living conditions, huge rent increases and they claim to be a Church? They seem very questionable in their business practices.

Our country seems to be teetering on what some would consider the most dangerous political slope in our history..with gallup polls reporting around a 14 percent favorable rating of congress and just over 20 percent favorable rating towards our president...Personally I think we need to hold emergency elections and clean out all of the political debris. I wish some of the politicians in office would take a look at themselves and realize they would be fired in any other job with those numbers and resign from office. I think we should start massive petitions to rescind the previous elections and start all over from scratch...

An Ice Dam is one of the possible results of a glacier melting.

If you have seen the animated movie "Ice Age 2" you will understand the concept.

As the glacier melts, it forms a pool (and eventually a lake) of melt water held in by the leading edge of the glacier (which forms an ice dam).

Eventually the leading edge melts, and releases the lake in the form of a rapid flood.

Most of the Flood legends are based on the collapse of ice dams.

The legends from the Mediterranean have a different cause. During the ice age the sea level fell so that the straits of Gibralter and other bottle necks were above sea level.

When the glaciers melted, the sea level rose and flooded over these bottle necks, flooding the lowland areas behind the bottlenecks.

Do they not teach this in high school science classes where you live?

He is a 2 1/2 year old weimrainer. Even if we keep him awake all day, lots of exercise, etc. he still wakes us up with his whining at the crack of dawn. If we don't get up within 5 or 10 minutes, he starts jumping onto the bed. What can I do to help him sleep just a little longer/later?

Today (Thursday, July 12th) is the official day that WCBS-FM, which was a heritage oldies station for 23 years before it flipped to "Jack", went back to the oldies format.

For those in NYC, how do you feel about the change? Is it what you've expected? Better? Worse?
