It's hot and muggy in here and I hate opening windows at night. Would you turn the AC on in 50 something degree weather?

I have to say, humans never cease to amaze me with what they can think up. Sometimes, though, certain things seem to be a bit too well thought up to be fairy tales. And, these things/creatures, tend to be brought up in many different parts of the world at different times in history. Who can explain exactly how this happens, and how it can come to be that two completely different places with no contact between them can have such simular stories, if they are not based, at least partially, on something real?

For example. Dragons. China has had their dragons for thousands of years. Europeans have had dragons for almost as long. These are dating back far before there were open trade routes between china and europe, and I find it hard to believe that single people would be able to bring back such tales as to have the stories spread so far and wide. Is there any possibility that giant lizzards (GIANT!) existed, or were they like monitor lizzards, only exaggerated? What is your opinion?

When I talk to a certain friend, and I try to explain things to him, he always tells me I suck at explaining. And I feel like I do, when I'm around him. But when I'm around other people, I explain things so well, with vivid detail. What might be wrong with me... or him?

Hi. I broke my ankle last week and had surgery on it where they had to put in 10 screws and a plate. Im in pain still so Ive had to be staying in bed with my foot propped up, if I get up the weight of the cast is really hard on my ankle, and all the blood rushes down which is also painful. I just started dieting and working out right before this happened, and now i cant do what i was doing before. WHAT KIND OF EXERCISES CAN I DO IN BED? I would like to lose weight and tone up. Im not expecting GREAT results because i know there is not much i can do in bed. But at least SOMETHING! Please help! Thanks! :-)

i have completely stuffed up my laptop os (windows xp) and i am looking for a free operating system to replace it.

i intend to do a moderate amount of gaming, but will still need it to be functional for work. i have got cd's of linux ubuntu and knoppix but i am not sure if either are suitable.

could you please reccomend a free operating system for me?

p.s. i don't want anything dodgey or stolen.

We are trying to purify BaSO4 by dissolving it in an Na5DTPA solution and then re-precipitating it out, but we can't seem to get past the first step of dissolving the BaSO4! We are using a 0.05M DTPA solution made up with 1M NaOH which we got from a journal article. We've tried grounding the BaSO4 into fine powder, heating, ultrasonicating but nothing works. Any ideas?
