programs on DOS Operating System..?

I'm buying a laptop that has a DOS Operating System and I don't know what that is or the programs it has....Is it similar to like Microsoft XP? Does it have Microsoft word and all those other programs...? If not....what does it have?

The DOS Operating system was widely used before 1995. A few years before 1995, Windows 3.1 became very popular, but ran under DOS. Windows 95 was the first OS that really killed DOS.

DOS is nothing like windows. It is ancient and all the commands must be typed into a command prompt. It won't run any new software. You will need to purchase a Windows OS or download a Linux OS soon.
