Without making a political statement, many Gay men died defending this country. But I'm afraid that if I wore a T-shirt to my neighborhood BB-Q that said Gay Veteran, I would get the hell beat out of me. Can Independence and freedom be celebrated in America without Prejudice in our time? What is freedom and liberty, when some people that are true patriot's like myself are excluded by society when it comes to celebrating our liberty? Gay Marine Veteran. Peace to all and Happy Independence Day!!!!!

It is sad that people can't be more understanding. I do believe though that the subject gets very clouded by the gay pride marches with the dykes on bikes and the nearly nude men that are saying they are proud of something, but I'm not sure what. The focus is so much on sex and it shouldn't be.

You may get all kinds of answers telling you that you aren't Christian, and if you don't, there are certainly a lot of people who think it, even if you believe in God. We are ALL children of our Father in Heaven. Black, white, gay, straight.

There have been books written about the subject, but because of the gay community's focus on sex, I don't think people are particularly interested in learning or hearing about a gay perspective. I think some things need to change there before gays will find any widespread acceptance in our culture.

Happy 4th to you man, and than you for your service to our country. Gay veterans and current soldiers need to be recognized for their sacrifice and everything else they give for our country.

There are some non Christians who do plenty of good in this world. They donate to the hungry and clean up the beaches, do marathons for cancer patients....all wonderful things. But in the end, they will die and live apart from God for eternity. They risked their souls in this temporal world. I support the troops, I love all people but that doesnt mean I condone a homosexual lifestyle or any immoral lifestyle of any person in the armed forces. Happy Independence Day and God bless America.

As a lesbian, I sit here and think why be a "gay" anything. You're a veteran (gay or not), and I thank you... enough said, Sister Friend.

Why is it that homosexuals want special recognition for everything they do? Do you think your service was more valuable, or more exemplary, or deserves to stand out more than any other veteran? In reality, your homosexual lifestyle could have cost you a court martial had they found out about you while you were in the military. When I was in the service, if you were a homosexual, you were definitely court martialed for lying on your enlistment application. So in reality, if you are a "gay veteran", that's exactly what you did. And you would have received an Article 15, had you got caught. So you do not deserve recognition, because you did not enlist under honest pretenses.

First of all, this is more than an appropriate time to thank you for your service. I for one hope all predjudice disappears within our lifetime. If not, there's at least one straight guy pulling for ya.
