I'm English and I was taught to spell words like emphasise and realise with an s. I wonder why this is and whether it is a firm rule in British English. Something tells me it isn't - Colin Dexter in the Inspector Morse books uses Z.

Can anyone point me at a ruling or should I should spell them anyway I like.

Lulu was a prostitute, but she didn't want her grandma to know. One day, the police raided a whole group of prostitutes at a sex party in a hotel, and Lulu was among them. The police took them outside and had all the prostitutes line up along the driveway when suddenly, Lulu's grandma came by and saw her granddaughter. Grandma asked, "Why are you standing in line here, dear?" Not willing to let her grandmother know the truth, Lulu told her grandmother that the policemen were there passing out free oranges and she was just lining up for some. "Why, that's awfully nice of them. I think I'll get some for myself", and she proceeded to the back of the line.

A policeman was going down the line asking for information from all of the prostitutes. When he got to Grandma, he was bewildered and exclaimed, "Wow, still going at it at your age? How do you do it?" Grandma replied, "Oh, it's easy, dear. I just take my dentures out, rip the skin back and suck them dry." The policeman fainted....

I am in a frat at my college and thus, I meet a lot of girls, but the problem is that they are all in sororities. I'm not going to generalize about sorority girls everywhere, but the ones at my college fall into 2 categories.
1. Bleach blonds who only care about getting as drunk as possible 4 days a week.
2. Nerdy girls who joined a sorority in an attempt to be cool.

I don't like either of these girls. What can I do to meet girls outside of the greek system. Pretty much everyone i know is greek and i a really hard time meeting outside people.

I just read an article that the promoters of Live Earth were saying that they want to make the concert part of the solution, and that they will be closely monitored for how they handle their power, emissions, etc.

Well, rock concerts are, it seems, a completely unproductive and unnecessary thing. There would be no environmental footprint if they simply didn't have the concert, isn't that true?

Can't they put together a public service announcement? Couldn't each rock star simply go out and spend their time educating individuals in a meaningful way about pollution and other issues? I mean, most of the people at the concerts are not going to be educated there. Why not take these resources, money and voices and put them into real education on the topic?

There are several variations in the meaning of jihad. This is what the Quran says:

1) "Fight in the way of God those who fight for you, but do not begin hostilities; God does not like the aggressor" (2:190)

2) "Permission to fight is given ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN OPPRESSED... who have been driven from their homes for saying, "God is our Lord" "

In the book titled, "No God But God" by Reza Aslam, he states these verses were directed specifically at the Quraysh and their clandestine partisans in Yathrib.

This is the point where the view become misconstured and makes people believe they will fight anyone until they can convince them to convert. There is no such thing as a holy war because there can be no fight in the name of God.

ALL I AM ASKING IS IF YOU AGREE? Has Osama twisted the true meaning as a reason to take the lives of millions? Please keep the sarcasm to a minimum. Thanks for the respect.

I was just wondering whether my "hearing voices" is actually a mental health problem. I understand that in most cases it is but I'm fairly sure my "case" is different.
Basically, most days I hear angry voices in my head. They're not at all clear and it just sounds as if a few people with pillows over their mouths are having a very manic argument. As you can imagine it's extremely disconcerting. I've been experiencing this since I was about 15 (roughly 4 years) and haven't ever really discussed it with anyone, but recently the voices have been getting louder and more frequent.
The only way I've found to make it (temporarily) go away is to drown them out with loud music etc.
So my question is just, should I be worried? Is this the whole "hearing voices" leading to madness scenario? Or is it just normal?
Thanks

My husband is 32 and going to take his GED test in July. I have been studying the practice books with him, but some of that stuff in there is really hard!! I graduated from high school when I was 17 in 2002, and I dont remember a LOT of what is in some of these books. So, on stuff that I have forgotten, or never knew I dont have much luck teaching him about it...LOL...I was just wondering if some of you might have taken the GED test and how hard you thought it was. He has been out of school for about 15 years now. Do you think he has a good shot at passing it?? He is very strong in his math skills, but weaker in English/Writing. Thanks for all your answers!! God Bless!

I have a male shih tzu, born november,2005. ever since he was a puppy he we have had to force him to eat. He was allways hyper, and was obsessed with squeaky toys and tupawear. Now the vet took blood and it came back normal. before that, he was throwing up daily or bi-daily, mostly foam/phlem. The vet put him on science diet i/d for sensitive stiomach (perscription) canned and hard food. now he stopped throwing up eating the canned, but he is less active. Everytime he eats the hard food he throws up. The vet said he can't stay on the soft food for much longer. What do you think?

Please what are the advantages of staying single all your life? Or are humans happier with a mate?

I think Im going to remain single because im already 34, im to extremely shy, not very good looking, okay, im on the ugly side, and girls really don't notice me. So Im trying to convince myself that been single and lonely ain't so bad.

So I will like some good reason for this lifestyle or bad reasons. Thanks
