There are several variations in the meaning of jihad. This is what the Quran says:
1) "Fight in the way of God those who fight for you, but do not begin hostilities; God does not like the aggressor" (2:190)
2) "Permission to fight is given ONLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN OPPRESSED... who have been driven from their homes for saying, "God is our Lord" "
In the book titled, "No God But God" by Reza Aslam, he states these verses were directed specifically at the Quraysh and their clandestine partisans in Yathrib.
This is the point where the view become misconstured and makes people believe they will fight anyone until they can convince them to convert. There is no such thing as a holy war because there can be no fight in the name of God.
ALL I AM ASKING IS IF YOU AGREE? Has Osama twisted the true meaning as a reason to take the lives of millions? Please keep the sarcasm to a minimum. Thanks for the respect.

The only reason I used Osama because everyone is familiar with him. Again, sarcasm to a minimum.

Osama and his likes, have perverted the meanings of the quran to brainwash the commoners and particularly poor people who have nothing to lose. But all the parties, involved, are to be blamed in a way or another, its all about politics in the end.

Please!!! Everyone with an agenda has used their religious beliefs for their own outcome. They do it in every country of the world. Yes, even the US. Just take a look at all of those TV Evangelists. Do you honestly belief that God has spoken to them and said that they have to raise a million dollars and live in mansions and drive Rolls Royce's around? Granted, most of the ones in America are harmless, in the sense that they don't tell the "flock" to go out and kill someone, but they ALL are serving their own needs.
Before you say anything about anyone Else's religious beliefs, you have to consider one very important point, which seems to slip by most Americans. People from other countries aren't brought up with American beliefs, American policies and American understanding. They are brought up in their own country, with their own belief system, and to "assume" that because we Americans know better, we can judge others based on our system. The old statement, "walk a mile in my shoes" comes to mind. If a person were never to see a car in their lives, never see a TV or movie with a car in them, then you come up to them and say, why are you riding a horse, when you could be driving a car...they would think that you are crazy. You have to understand the person, from their prospective, not interupt their understanding on a subject based on what you believe.

I think the problem is with the news companies in that the war has been poorly translated for the people to understand.

My opinion is that the whole meaning of Jihad has been abominated by the "holy Men" of Islam, so they can use their religion in a political manner. Remember the big to-do about the cartoons last year? That had more political motivation than righteous indignation.
I guess I'll never understand the whole "religion of Peace
' thing, until they stop killing.

Jihad is a arabic word for the word attack as you defend. It means that if some one attack you or your country or relegion or ... you attack to until to illimenate it. It is holy because its saving its relegion and Jihad isnt the things that Osama does. Jihad like the attack that Iraq had to Iran and Iranians did the jihad and defended them.terrorist attacks arrent Jihad because they6 arrent holy because the terrorist arent listening to their relegion that says not to kill any body that isnt harm full or ... . So we cant put Saddam or Bin laden Jihaders because they werent doing relegios move ments and they are out of the circle of Islam.cause Islam is the relegion of peice and justice and ... .

Some of the ideas Mohamed put forth have gotten twisted around. There is a jihad, and we're in it.

Jihad means struggle.
I make jihad every day when I try to conform my behavior to the will of Allah. I am not good at obeying the mandates of God, it is a struggle, one that I fight every day.
