Why the government is so slow in building bicycle trails for people to commute which will significantly reduce our dependence of foreign oil and global warming? This also gives people chance to excercise.

I'm going backpacking in Denali this summer for 2 weeks. The cost of a rental car in AK is ridiculous due to state , municpal and airport fees. Since I am extremely cheap, I thought about buying a very cheap junker and driving it for 2 weeks then either giving it away or taking it to a salvage yard. I was looking on craigslist and a lot of the cars listed say that the tags or emissions are good until a certain date. So here is the question. Do the tags follow a car in Alaska like they do in some other states? In other words if I bought a car with valid plates could I get away with driving it for 2 weeks?

The Civil War was fought because of racism and slavery. White Democrats were the slave owners in the South. Are you really that surprised to learn that there are many racists like Don Imus, Michael Richards, Robert Byrd, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton in the Democratic Party?

Hey I have been through sooooo much pain and misery from a break up from my boyfriend. He broke it up to me on my first day of work , which needed alot of focus on because I am doing marketing for the resorts. And it was also two days after my birthday ! Wrong timing but anyways he wanted to break up because he felt like being single and he thinks it feels right .(long story ) We just started long distance so it was hard but we only had like a couple more months till we get back hom and be together without long distance.I can't believ he gave up so easily! And even though i clearly said we should not break up and that it was putting me to mental torture. He didn't care and say too bad we broken up already . I will let you know if we can get back but don't hope too much on it .Ughhhhhh! And I had been crying like a baby for a few days and my chest hurts so much! I was a good women to him with a good heart and I gave him my all .

It shifts from park into each gear, but I can barely feel it at all when I shift. The only way that I know which gear I'm in is through experience in driving automatic transmission cars. My gear display panel shows the car as being in reverse when I have it in park. If I press the accelerator hard enough, I see a little bit of smoke/smell hot transmission fluid whenever I stop at a light. Are these common symptoms for a older car, and what can I do to fix the problems? I am mechanically enclined so any tips will help. Thanks in advance.

My husband and I have separated and it's time for me to start moving on. I need some me time and would to pamper myself with a vacation. I have read the messages about Dreams Resort in Puerto Vallarta put it seems more like a place for groups of friends, and lovers of course. I have looked a lot of the All Inclusive in Puerto Vallarta; it really looks like a wonderful place to visit. Any suggestions on which resorts I would feel more comfortable at since I will be traveling alone. Not looking to meet new men yet but I deserve some fun in the sun too.
I understand anywhere I go there will be couples. I would like the opportunity to be with other people that are possibly traveling alone as well so I don’t feel so much like a fifth wheel.
I can’t believe I have to go through this all over again! Sometimes life really sucks; I’m trying to make lemonade.

How would you react if
you found out your husband was flirting with the clerk at the corner store? Every time I go in there, she's always telling me how wonderful my husband is. She obviously has a crush on him. Last time I went in, she told me that she was outside down the street looking for her cat and my husband pulled up and said,"are ya looking for a date?" and she laughed and said, "no, for my cat" so he got out and proceeded to "help" her( cats hate him) and was joking around yelling,"*****?*****?"..I dont think this is appropriate behavior for a married man, do you? Would you be concerned? I have not said anything to him yet, because I am not sure if I am over reacting, or if their is cause for concern; I can say, I KNOW he would not have behaved this way, had i been there.

I was on a bus today and it drove past the park where I learnt to ride a bike when I was around 6 or 7 I think(Millfields Park in East London). Its funny, I always go past the park but never think anything of it, but today I did.

So I ask you, where and when did you learn to ride a bike?

I currently have basic cable through Time Warner. I recently bought an HDTV with a built in ATSC tuner. Yesterday I went and got an antenna for off-air HDTV. However, my tv only has one port to hook in a cable plug. Either I have to unplug my cable to get the antenna hooked into the tv, which means I don't get my cable channels, or vice versa.

Do I need a splitter, or how do I go about using my analog cable, and hooking up my new antenna for over the air HDTV?

I think the old 'checks and balances' are not strong enough to ensure the goverment comes out on top. Lobbyist's backed by huge Corporations have the money to buy politicians. The media in too few hands has the power to control perceptions and votes. In the old days a goverment could look after the peoples interests by breaking up and legislating against monopolies, now they are too scared of being voted out of office on the whim of a media proprietor. Individuals are easilly ignored. We need something bigger than the Corporations - big enough to put them back in their box. It seems to me the internet is a tool that could work for the people. Could I suggest that everyone who reads this and feels the same post on the internet, asking those that read their posts to do the same. LETS CREATE A GROUNDSWELL FOR DEMOCRACY ON THE NET demanding the breaking up of monopoly media, the outlawing of lobbyists, & reform of electoral finance so that people with integrity not just money run.
