On filing State tax most of the states have their own website to file them for free. Do I really have to use turbo tax and other software and pay them for filing state tax?

Most of the state websites that let you file free let you just enter your info there without using additional software, but you'd have to look at your state to be sure. Some also let you file by phone - you'd fill out a form first that you can download, then call a number they give you and key in the info that's asked for.
