My husband and I have separated and it's time for me to start moving on. I need some me time and would to pamper myself with a vacation. I have read the messages about Dreams Resort in Puerto Vallarta put it seems more like a place for groups of friends, and lovers of course. I have looked a lot of the All Inclusive in Puerto Vallarta; it really looks like a wonderful place to visit. Any suggestions on which resorts I would feel more comfortable at since I will be traveling alone. Not looking to meet new men yet but I deserve some fun in the sun too.
I understand anywhere I go there will be couples. I would like the opportunity to be with other people that are possibly traveling alone as well so I don’t feel so much like a fifth wheel.
I can’t believe I have to go through this all over again! Sometimes life really sucks; I’m trying to make lemonade.

i'm not sure what the first person is talking about...i lived in mexico, and regularly walked around alone....of course this varies from city to city, but puerto vallarta is not exactly "unsafe." they make their money on tourism so they're going to do a pretty good job of keeping you safe.

i'm sorry about your situation, but i'm glad to see you are making the best of things!!! i have heard a lot of great things about dreams. normally i would suggest a smaller hotel in old vallarta....but considering your situation, i think a lot of people (meaning lots of options for visiting, making plans, keeping busy) would be better for you. so dreams sounds great!

i know you are not "looking" for guys, but there are lots of peole who vacation in groups of guys/girls, or whatever, and i'm sure you'll find some ladies to talk with, or a few men to have a dance with if you like.

i think a great bar for you to visit...with a more "mature" population of people (both couples and singles) is Andales. (sorry, maybe you spell this Andeles) anyways, VERY fun, and upbeat. people are very friends, speak english, and the average age is around 40-45ish. although you can see 22 year olds all the way to 65 or older. this bar is in the far end of old downtown vallarta.

Congratulations. Life goes on. I am a Puerto Vallarta native and a vacation expert as well.
My suggestion to you would be not to stay too far from town. Stay near the downtown so you can enjoy what Vallarta has to offer.

You are FAR better off to go alone than with a friend that gets in trouble for not knowing how to be good. The idiots that get in trouble with the law do it every where they go.

Now getting back to your question. Right as you into town there is an OK to GOOD hotel called BUENAVENTURA it is about 5 or 6 blocks from the heart of town and it is right on the beach. It is a 4 star. This is more for the single person or traveling with friends. You can pretty much walk everywhere from there.

But if you rather have the good life there are better resorts to stay. Per instance the Sheraton hotel its about 1/4 mile north of the Buenaventura hotel 5 minutes 5 bucks taxi ride from downtown. If a quality place its more important to you as it is to me, then I suggest the Westin Regina at the marina.

There is a ton of things to do in PV. If you want some more detailed information about PV. Send me an email to mexkimo@yahoo.com let me know your interest and age group to better fit your activities.

Best of luck and above all have a great time.

Puerto Vallarta is a very popular tourist destination and totally fine for a solo female traveler. The Westin is in the Marina District, which is quiet but not dead, by any means. There's some good places to chill out by the harbor with a cool margarita over dinner, and you can catch mini-buses right outside the hotel into downtown any time you want to prowl the streets, walk the malecon, or do a bit of shopping. Though it's hurricane season, the pacific side tends to get fewer storms than the Caribbean side of Mexico and you've got an excellent chance of having sunny weather with perhaps just an occasional shower. Have fun!

First of all, let me commend you on your personal strength. I know this is a difficult time in your life. However, you are in the right frame of mind.

Now, is there any way that you could take your vacation with a girl friend? I think it would be a little safer. And also you would be less likely to have a "rebound" fling. Having a friend around will keep you busy and you won't notice the other couples around. Also, it will be a great memory for you and your friend. I have never been on a vacation with my best friend, but I think if I did, it would be a wonderful bonding experience.

Last, check out the resort you are going to on applevacations.com. See what it is rated and read reviews of it. This will give you a great idea of what to expect.

Best wishes to you.

Dreams Resort is a great place to pamper yourself. They have a spa and it is an all-inclusive. You will meet people. It's not an all couples place. You will find singles, couples and families traveling to this resort. They have 24 hour room service if you feel like being alone. It's a great opportunity to redefind what you want out of life.
You should be proud of yourself, for taking this step. Go and have fun.
I wish you good luck

Hello, for the last 3 years I've gone to Jamaica and Mexico with a small group in November. This November, we're going to:

http://www.barcelo.com/BarceloHotels/en-GB/Hotels/Mexico/PuertoVallarta/LaJollaDeMismaloya/Home.htm?ls=1

Our group is usually around 20, ( a sub group of a Ski Club of a couple of hundred), some are couples and some are single, some have gone with us before and some are with us for the first time. We're not committed to hang out together, but we have the security of being in a group, we haven't had any hard-noses or problematics so far.
The hotel resort is all inclusive and reasonable. The travel agent we use can coordinate a flight from your area to meet up with us. E-mail me for additional info.

After going to many places in Mexico many times and seeing some of my friends arrested for no reason at all, I would never go to Mexico alone. I have always been told to only got to Mexico with a group of people. And I am a guy.
