I'm 37 and over weight. This I know. I need to lose alot of weight and would like to lose some before the end of March.
Now for the tricky bit. I can't run because I have tendonitis in both of my achillies and when I run my knees also seem to give out on me. I have a membership at a gym but I start work early in the mornings and by the time I actually get home the gym would only be open for 15mins. So any ideas would be very helpful thankyou.
(Please no pills as I have tried them before)

I've been on this website for a while and I've chosen to discuss items in the religion department. And out of ten answers to a random question I've seen four people saying God is great and that you should let him/her into your heart, two people throwing Bible quotations around, three atheïsts with a relatively bitter response to all of this and maybe one honest answer if not zero.

Now, I'm not saying I give the best answers (I'm one of those bitter atheïsts), but people seem to repeat the same thing over and over again like a broken record. It's true because the Bible says so - the Bible is a book - evolution is not necessarily true - it has been proven - so has the Bible - no it hasn't - yes it has - etcetera. It's all child's bickering and I'm growing weary. And the worst of all is, we're not getting anywhere. The best answers are voted by asker and what the asker religiously agrees with turns out to be the best answer. All of this doesn't change anything. Anyone else think so?

My very best girlfriend is coming to town this weekend for 4 days. We've got lots planned, but since this is her first visit to the NW, I want to make sure we get in all the "must see" places in Portland.

We are the type of friends that have fun no matter what we're doing, so activites can range from $ to $$$$.

Remember, 4 days, and we have to have time to sleep! LOL

So far, here are some of the items on the itinerary:
Local auctions
Dinner at Lovely Hula Hands
The antique Expo
Saturday Market
Pittock Mansion
Multnomah Falls
Hawthorne
Dinner at Palmer House (it's my birthday!!!!)

Thanks in advance for your help!!

My research tells me the lyrics were by Tolkien, but I can't find them anywhere in the book, nor any clear indication of where they are to be found. Is that song from the Lord of the Rings? the Silmarillion? the other books Christopher published later?

Exactly why is it ridiculous that Jesus may have had a child? He was a man. Men have children--that's not ridiculous. This is the main thing people seem to be upset about on here (having to do with the tombs). Just because there isn't a child mentioned in the Bible does that mean for sure that there wasn't one or more? I haven't reached any conclusions of my own on this, I just don't understand why this 'son' thing is such a big deal. It wouldn't take anything away from who Jesus was and the miracles and teachings would it? Aren't there lots of things left out of the Bible about Jesus that we just don't know?

Going via Singapore and spending a few nights there, staying with my cousin in Melbourne but also doing Sydney, Uluru and Cairns for a few nights each too, are internal flights expensive to book, thinking of taking about £2,500 for the whole trip, will it be enough.

Hi all,

I just received my first pay slip from my new job. I earn a gross salary of £24,000, so this means the tax I should be deducted is 22%, which I was. But the NI deducted was £173.80. This is 8.65%. Is this really high? My total deductions were £613. This means I was deducted a total of 30.65%! Before this job I was temping and my agency told me the total of tax and NI deductions should work out at about 25%. Last week someone posted a calculator on here that calculted your earnings after tax and NI deductions. I tried it and it didn't work out at a total deduction of 30.65%! Also, the tax code on the P45 of my last employmer is different to the code that my new employer has used on my pay slip...does this mean anything.

Sorry, I'm not from the UK so not really sure how tax etc works here. Could someone tell me if the amount I was deducted is correct?

Many thanks

i am able to do work experience for an advertising firm over a uni break that goes for just under a month. Therefore I can only manage to do about three weeks tops of work experience there. the flight to get to where the firm is will set me back about $1000. i will be staying with a friend so accomodation is not a concern. it will be 9-5 and it's a somewhat famous advertising firm.
Is a three weeks unpaid work experience at a famous firm good enough to blow a $1000 on, and will it be significant at all on my resume? I am just concerned whether my future employer will think that three weeks was too short to be a notable work experience.

This is a complicated one and prob only one that a medic will be able to clarify.
My mother-in-law had a heart attack and after she left hospital was told by a medic not to get too cold or warm. About 9 months after this, she was diagnosed with lung cancer, had chemotherapy and was told last month she is in remission.

She has since come home, has the heating on in the house like a furnace (i cant breathe in there), wears 2 jumpers AND a coat in the house and has now started with stomach pains so she has 2(!!) hot water bottles on her tummy as well as all the other stuff.

We have tried to mention this excess heat thing but she tells us not to fuss.
Could she be putting herself in more danger?

We really need honest answers as this could have serious implications.
I thought about talking to her doctor as he is unaware of all this stuff, but not sure he will discuss this with me due to confidentiality.
