Going via Singapore and spending a few nights there, staying with my cousin in Melbourne but also doing Sydney, Uluru and Cairns for a few nights each too, are internal flights expensive to book, thinking of taking about £2,500 for the whole trip, will it be enough.

The flights from England are already booked so I'm just wondering spending money wise.

$6000 - $7500 Australian Dollars - go to www.xe.com to work out how much that would be in pounds.
Flights within Australia are pretty cheap, although it might be a good idea to start booking now, so that you get cheaper rates.
Also for accomodation I would book through www.wotif.com.au so leave that until a week or so before youi need the accomodation, a lot of nice hotels put their rates on there and sometimes you can save as much as 50%
Also remember with Australia that everything isn't as close as it might seem, a flight from Melbourne to Cairns is 4 hours, although Melbourne to Sydney is only a hour.

Just a note about transfers from airports. There are buses from all the capital city airports into the city and trains in Sydney and Brisbane. Many of the smaller tourist destinations have buses that pick up from the airport and drop you aff at your hotel or hostel. Melbourne Airport is a long way from the city and if you fly into Avalon, you are about an hour out. Don't even think about taxis unless you are very rich. In Sydney, if you are going to the city or close by, if there are three or four of you, take a taxi. If there are one or two of you, take the train. If you are going further than the city, take the train no matter how many of you there are.

Taxis are fine for short trips - 5 to 10km - but they get very expensive for medium to long trips.

By the way, you are not required to tip taxi drivers. You can if you want to (round up to the nearest dollar is the norm) but you can offer a note and wait for change - and you will get it with no problems.

That amount will work. Australia has great accommodations for little money so a little research will find you good deals at good locations. I stayed at a place called Yorkies Knob near Cairns. My hotel was on the beach, clean with a full kitchen for $ 55 us a night. The transportation system is excellent and cheap. You may not need to rent a car at all so make sure to check into that.

Yeah, that'll be enough as long as you are careful about where you stay, don't buy to much useless stuff and don't eat 5 star each night. Flights are ok, around $100 Sydney to Melbourne, $400 Darwin to Melbourne, $400 Perth to Sydney, check flightcentre for cheap flights, the budget airlines there are called Virgin Blue and Jetstar.

My family and I (2 adults and 2 kids) went to oz and had several stops in 4 weeks and we took 3000 pounds and came back with money. Mind you we did have most of our day trips pre-paid for and pre-booked.

have a fab time,.

be sure to do the sounds of silence dinner when at ayers rock. It's an amazing experience. you will need to pre-book as demand for it is high.

I would pre-book your internal flights as they are cheaper from here than buying them over there.
We had all our flights pre-paid and booked and it formed part of the main air ticket.

We stopped at Bangkok, Sydney, melbourne, Ayers rock, Cairns, Brisbane and Fiji

At least -$5000 AUD absolute minimum. It is much more expensive to travel around Australia than most people anticipate. From experience, I would suggest taking about $2000 AUD per week minimum, but you can get by on less, but it is better to have too much than not enough. I think you have it well planned. Domestic flights are not too expesnive, but it is better to book them in advance, and better than driving. Check out www.qantas.com and www.virginblue.com.au for flights inside Australia. Hope this helps and happy travelling!!!

well, it could be enough for pounds but it is not recommened. because you are actually travelling 3 states across here... Uluru is fantastic travelling this time around.. i wish you would enjoy your trip...
another tip, when travelling domestic flights, please check the airports, some airports are very far from city. that will cost you extra taxi costs.. make sure your interconnecting flights are close to city..

hope that helps..
