Why is there absolutely no record in church history from the First Century until the 19th Century of anyone speaking in tongues?

No early church fathers or other Christian writers record anything about speaking in tongues for over 1700 years. Certainly if this was a common practice, something would have been written about it.

Is it reasonable to think that the Holy Spirit ceased to give this gift for 1700 years and then in the 1800's, during the Pentecostal Movement, He suddenly began to give this gift ubiquitously again?

what would you do for xmas gifts for grandchildren who visit 1 day a week? do i save some gifts for the grandchildren to play with at our house? and how do i get past the fact that the parents are not married and have both moved on with other relationships and now there are 3 sets of grandparents and i feel left out and being the leftover grandparent as far as seeing the grandchild on the holidays. the mother still holds the dad to seeing the child. just feel left out.

I have heard you tip your mailman, garbage man, regular hairdressor, etc etc etc. I have never spoken to my garbage men, my mailman comes when we are at work so its the same with him. My hairdressor I more than likely won't see for the holiday season. I heard on the radio that you should tip the cost of a regular visit! It seems a little extreme, the whole tipping your garbagemen and how much you are supposed to dish out to others. Anyone actually tip to this extreme? And if you are someone in one of those professions, do you expect a tip?

I made a good friend at work and we had a lot of fun. he was also very flirtatious and since i liked him it was all great, but then i called him and he completely blew me off and has been acting really weirdly since then - he normally gives me a ride home so i was stranded without a lift. now he basically ignores me, and when he does give us a ride he's pretty moody, and I am COMPLETELY confused. how can i get things back to how they were before?
