With the coming of many new small jets, that prospect may not be as farr off as you think. There is a company in Florida that is offering Air Taxi service for many small airports. You do still have to go to an airport, for now. Probably within the next 50 years, we will see another leap forward in aviation technology that will allow a curbside pickup and cross country flight.

Any small airport will do this, but usually on appointment. It is very expensive. Helicopter "taxi" service is also an option. Arrive in style! Or just say you want your first lesson and fly where ever you want.

I think that in the future it can happen. Look at how far we've come in technology, I am a strong believer that science and technology is in our future. Meaning that sure airplanes as taxis sounds realistic, Don't you >?\

Air taxis have been around for years...they operate as part 135 "on-demand" or "charter" carriers. If you want to go somewhere, you call the charter company and tell them.. Then go to the airport and they take you where you want to go.
