I know that political wise, North and South America are considered young continents, but how old does the country and/or continent have to be in terms of politics: getting their independence and setting up their own government to be considered old?

Surely you cannot be so biased & partisan as to say that this was the one war where all 974 issues at stake were purely good versus evil. And if you do feel this way, please tell us something else that might surprise us, or tell us what a surviving Roman, Soviet, Neo-Ancient Egyptian, Napoleonic, Inka/Maya/Aztec/Commanche/Sioux, or other world empire might have done for us by the year 2006?

I am 37 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first child. Two weeks ago I began losing pieces of my mucous plug. My OBGYN said this is normal and could mean labor is still a little ways further.

I had my last cervical exam on Wednesday. To my surprise, I was 1 1/2 cm dilated! Since Wednesday, my contractions have been constant. They were too inconsistent to time the first day or so. I finally began timing them yesterday. Now, every 9 minutes, I get a contraction painful or not. This has lasted for almost 24 hours.

My mother said this is normal. She said they are "working" contractions which just means my body is close to the real deal. Honestly, it doesn't make any sense to me. How can I be having consistent, sometimes painful, contractions for days, while my cervix is dilated, and not be in labor???? HELP.

PS. Is it normal to be 1 1/2 cm dilated with your first pregnancy and not be in labor??

I think child support, in most cases, is BS. I am speaking as a mother of one and do not get child support. My sons father has him half the time and provides everything he needs when he is with him. My husband on the other hand has a son and the mother took him and moved away because he didn't want to be with her.My husband has ALWAYS taken care of his son.He gave her money voluntarily and still paid for stuff on the side for him. Now she filed child support and has been awarded $400 a month for one child! how rediculous is that. If child support is suppose to be fair then they are telling us it takes $800 a month to take care of this child? Thats BS! Unless your childhas special needs or is ill it does not take even 400 a month to take care of one child. She has no rent cause she lives with her dad and my husband paid for both cars she has. Why do they have these men solely paying for these kids? What is the mothers responsibility? What does she pay for?

Jokes and puts down my weight? I am not huge and the last time I went for a check up I found out that i'd even lost a LOT of weight. But that is not good enough for him and he didnt even notice that. I'm also not as skinny as some of his previous girlfriends. He constantly puts my weight down and last night he was reading an intimacy book about sex positions, and he pointed out several that he claims we cant try because of my weight. It was humiliating. This is why I made the decision to just not be intimate with him anymore...because he makes me feel embarressed about my body. I don't even like to eat around him because i'm scared he will talk about me eating. We want to get married soon but I am not sure I can marry someone who is constantly putting down my size. How do I get him to stop so that we can make it down the aisle in peace?

And I have worked in Africa for nearly 10 years helping Africans with food, transport and helping to fight diseases.

During that time I have had malaria, typhoid and bilharzia several times.

Nothing I have seen here in Africa has changed my belief that god does not exist.

Will I go to heaven or hell?
