And I have worked in Africa for nearly 10 years helping Africans with food, transport and helping to fight diseases.

During that time I have had malaria, typhoid and bilharzia several times.

Nothing I have seen here in Africa has changed my belief that god does not exist.

Will I go to heaven or hell?

You will simply cease to exist, as we all will. At least in your case you will get to the end of your life knowing you have done something worthwhile and fulfilling with your time.

I really appreciate the fact that you have played your part in making Africa a better continent. The sad truth however is that you are obviously blind. I have lived, breathed, worked, studied, played, partied and prayed under the African sky all my life and still I believe in a higher power, in a supreme being, in God Almighty. Every time I see the miracle of a tree in bloom or the Mountains against the backdrop of a setting sun, on holiday in a game reserve, or the sky crying with rain, the moon and its perfect cycle, and the complex way in which the different parts of our bodies work in order that we can breathe, I know in my heart and soul that there is definitely a God who has created this world with all its perfections and imperfections in order that we may understand. I know that there is a heaven and hell. But I cannot answer your question because I am not God nor am I am a prophet nor am I a saint. I am not assured of my place in heaven so how is it that I can be assured of yours in either heaven or hell? Who knows what belief you may turn to before you do die? lets hope that you will be guided into seeing the truth before it is too late.

Well if you don't believe in God, why are you worrying? Or if you are just putting us to the test, John 9:41 sums it up pretty well I believe.

Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim to see, your guilt remains"

If you know about Christ, and reject him, and he turns out to be the Truth, then don't be surprised if he doesn't accept you. If you never heard of Christ, then died, he might have mercy on you because of blindness. But ignorance is something entirely different. I would hope you go to heaven and I have no doubt that you may be a nice guy compared to other people, but the standard to getting into heaven is not "be a comparatively good person" but to be sanctified.

I hope you keep your heart open, and I respect you for your humanitarian service. If Christianity is wrong, then you will die simply as a good person perhaps. But if Christ is the way, regardless of how many good things you have done, you seriously need to seek him.

Jesus Christ said that if you don't believe you won't have eternal life. I do believe though that he figures if you are Buddhist, Muslim, etc, or anything and if you believe in some sort of God, that He will take you to heaven. But it is interesting that you care. Are you an agnostic instead of an atheist? Do you question that God exists?

I have done this: (even if you don't believe it will work) pray to God, and just ask if he exists. He revealed himself to me, and I was an agnostic before that.

By the way, I admire your helping the people in Africa and going through that suffering. You do truly have a kind heart. God bless.

Sounds like you're already worked in hell and you brought a little heaven to the people there.

Believe in yourself. You're doing what others would call "gods work" when in fact it is what all of us should be doing.

You're not only an atheist, but you're giving back to society and your fellow man in ways most god-fearing people don't.

Where you go next in this life is up to you. Where you go next in the after-life, if anywhere, may or may not be up to you. Dead may just mean dead. Either way, since there's nothing you can do about with any certainty, there's no reason to dwell upon it.

If you're beliefs are correct, then by the traditiona, Judeo-Christian vision of Hell, no. You shall not continue on and be tormented for all eterntiy. Instead, you'll cease to exist.

However, if you look at it from another angle, then one COULD argue that your fate IS a form of Hell. Howso you ask? Hell is the Christian vision of the ultimate punishment. In at least one other religion, however, it is the total ceasation of existence that is the ultimate punishment.

So in the end, even if you're not going to Hell persay, you're still facing what some would have considered the ultimate level of divine retribution.

I believe in God, but I think God understands how people can come to the conclusion that He doesn't exist. It depends a lot on the information you take in during your lifetime and how your brain and personallity processes that information. It's all about figuring out what makes the most sense to you personally. I think God will look more at the fact that you spent 10 years helping Africans out which is very commendable, and how you lived the rest of your life and whether you did good things or bad. People often forget that is the most important thing of all.

You will go to hell unless you receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (see John 1:11-12). Attaining heaven is not by merit or good works, though commendable. Justification is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

You sound like you think you deserve heaven. No one does.

i don't want to offend you but if you are a true atheist you would not wonder if you are going to heaven or hell.i understand if you do not believe in god, given the horrors you have seen and endured,i have the greatest respect for someone like you doing good for people less fortunate in another country.you are a beautiful person but as far as your beliefs go,you may be confused,i hope you find peace within and keep helping people in true need, good luck to you.

,Hi, firstly can I say well done for all the great work and effort you have put in to help the poor in Africa.
now as far as your question is concerned it seems to me that you are not an Atheist but are Agnostic.
there are various claims to Agnosticism but the most common one is that, God does not intervene to help human beings and therefore must be powerless.
I can see how it would appear to be the case in the poverty stricken areas of Africa but consider this,God is not responsible for human greed that in turn causes hunger etc,God is not our slave to do our bidding either, but He does expect human beings to help one another and to be charitable.
you may not see it now but perhaps you will in time that as God calls on each of us to attend his brother and sister many remain deaf to His call, others cannot be bothered, and some even get fat of the backs of the poor.
you have responded to God`s call in your heart, and this is heroic, and it is by His love for you and His grace poured out to you, that you have been able to do the work that you have done.
I pray that one day you will come to believe this, and rejoice in the special love God has for you.

On what basis did you do what you did?

The Christian has a basis: Jesus' command to do good to all people, even to the point to sacrificing you own life for the good of others.

Why would an atheists do the things you have done? Good works cannot buy you a place in heaven.
