A man walked into the produce section of this local supermarket and asked to buy a half head of lettuce.

The boy working in that department told him that they only sold whole heads of lettuce. The man was insistent that the boy ask his manager about the matter.
Walking into the back room, the boy said to the manager:

"Some asshole wants to buy a half head of lettuce."
As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing right behind him, and he
quickly added, "And this gentleman kindly offered to buy the other half."

The manager approved the deal and the man went on his way. Later, the manager said to the boy, "I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people who think on their feet here. Where are you from, son?"
"Nebraska, sir," the boy replied.
"Well, why did you leave Nebraska?" the manager asked.
The boy said, "Sir, there's nothing up there but whores and football players!"
"Really?" said the manager. "My wife is from Nebraska."
"No ****?" replied the boy. "Who'd she play for?"

I often see the out of work youngster, not much money, just able to give thier parents a little towards the bills, but 9/10 always seem to manage to carry a mobile phone , surley the first thing to go is the phone, there are plenty of phone boxes about...

I really should know this since I had a brief spell in the RAF! The situation is as follows:

I have a job interview at an RAF base for a civilian position, chaired by a civilian employment officer (non millitary), a Flt Lt and a Flt Sgt. Would it go down well if I addressed the Flt Lt as "Sir" and the Flt Sgt in the correct millitary manner?

Do ex members of the millitary stand a better chance of getting a job on a millitary camp?
